WWE Raw Results - August 13, 2007

Seems like the WWE is shifting its focus even more towards entertainment and less on wrestling than ever before. This week's episode of Monday Night Raw is a prime example of that.

Who's Your Daddy? The show started off immediately with all of the wrestlers from both shows surrounding the ring as Vince McMahon makes his way down to the ring. Once there, they continue to play up the "Who's Your Daddy?" storyline. This week, Stephanie McMahon makes an appearance and informs her father that his illegitimate son is someone on the active roster. A foreshadowing moment in the storyline had the crowd in an uproar. As Vince McMahon was leaving the ring, he comes face to face with Mr. Kennedy. As the two stare at one another, the audience erupts, signaling that the New York City audience are readers of internet wrestling websites. WWE Idol Two of the more hilarious figures in the WWE, William Regal and Mic Foley, took to the ring and carried a segment called "WWE Idol". It's basically a parody of American Idol. The shift towards entertainment allowed Jillian Hall, Lilian Garcia, Nikolai Volkov (accompanied by the Iron Shiek), JBL, Michael Cole, and Santino Marella the opportunity to show off their singing voices. Mic Foley was funny, but William Regal proved once again to be absolutely hilarious.

Closing Thoughts

None of the matches tonight felt like they really mattered as the focus was more on entertainment. The show would have benefitted with a Triple H return, but for some reason that didn't happen.

Waiting On Another King

For some reason, Triple H did not make his return on Monday Night Raw this week, so the writers had King Booker attack Jerry Lawler again.

Cena & Umaga defeated Orton & Carlito

Standard mixed feuds tag team match with the New York City crowd firmly behind Randy Orton and against John Cena. John Cena took it very well.

Looks like Cryme Tyme is getting their push towards the title. They've been getting a lot of TV time, and now they get a match against the tag champs.

Mr. Kennedy is still the most likely candidate to be Vince McMahon's son, so the writers are probably going to stall him with meaningless programs.

Santino Marella's Heel Turns

For the second week in a row, the WWE utilizes a game show segment to further turn Santino Marella into a heel. This week, it's the WWE Idol competition.

The writers are continuing Cody Rhodes' push. This time, he beats Charlie Haas, who does a good job of carrying the match against the younger wrestler.

Iron Shiek & Nikolai Volkov

It was pretty cool hearing Howard Finkel doing his old school announcement of Nikolai Volkov's singing of the Russian National Anthem in the WWE Idol skit.

Last week, he beats Rory McAllister. This week, he beats Robbie McAllister. The writers continue to stall with the Snitsky push. Either drop it, or move forward.
