Below Expectations
Most fans went into No Mercy with lowered expectations. The show only announced six matches, and fans were left in the dark about what the actual main event was going to be.
Even with the lowered experience, the show failed to deliver. It was a subpar pay per view with only one good match (Triple H and Randy Orton in the Last Man Standing main event match).
Rey Mysterio and Finlay weren't allowed to show what they can really do because management wanted to focus on a fake injury angle. It was a great acting job by Finlay, but it wasn't needed. Fans wanted to see a great match between these two great performers.
The Punjabi Prison match between Batista and the Great Khali wasn't as bad as people expected it to be. Batista did a tremendous job considering the environment.
The match between Umaga and Triple H was understandably short, so it wasn't anything special. The match between Candice Michelle and Beth Phoenix failed to generate much interest despite the title switch. The six man tag team match involving Mr Kennedy, Lance Cade, Trevor Murdoch, Jeff Hardy, Paul London, and Brian Kendrick felt like something you would see on Monday Night Raw. The match between CM Punk and Big Daddy V was beyond disappointing. |
