Enzo Amore and Big Cass break up
When World Wrestling Entertainment started teasing the breakup of Enzo Amore and Big Cass, fans had mixed feelings. It wasn’t exactly a shocking decision. Many had been expecting this day since the two of them were brought up from NXT to the main roster. People have long stated that Big Cass had the size that Vince McMahon has a thing for. Many were counting the days until Amore was left behind. The split is now official.
Pushing both guys
For some WWE fans, dealing in absolutes is all their minds can comprehend. There’s a good guy and a bad guy. There’s a winner and a loser. It actually doesn’t have to be that way. When done properly, a feud can elevate both performers. Even if one performer has their shoulders pinned to the mat, which Enzo Amore did at Great Balls of Fire, the two of them can come out with more momentum.
A fantastic example of this was the feud between Randy Savage and Ricky Steamboat. Every World Wrestling Entertainment fan should know about that part of history. Steamboat walked away with the then highly prestigious Intercontinental Championship. However, Savage was not really a loser afterwards. Randy became a much bigger star than he already was.
Not saying that Enzo Amore and Big Cass have a chance to duplicate the greatness of that rivalry. Just saying both guys can be elevated in a feud.
WWE pushing Big Cass
Regardless of the fact that he might not necessarily be ready for a monster push in WWE, Big Cass is going to receive it. Management wants to know what they have in the Queens native. At 30 years of age, they want to make use of him before some deem it to be too late. The size, he has. However, Big Cass has yet to show that he can talk powerfully on the microphone and tell stories with his ring work. World Wrestling Entertainment is going to find out in the coming weeks.
WWE not pushing Enzo Amore
Heading into Great Balls of Fire, there were a few that held on to a glimmer of hope that Enzo Amore would not be demolished too bad. If WWE booked him strong enough, he can lose but still walk away with his head held high. Instead, the front office opted to go with the predictable squash. Some felt that the choice was necessary because it would hurt Big Cass otherwise. Amore didn’t even make it to Monday Night Raw.
Enzo Amore the underdog with heart
One possible way for WWE to have booked Enzo Amore in the loss is to portray him as a lovable underdog that simply will not quit. Have Big Cass destroy him with power move after power move. That’s fine. It gives the big guy some momentum. However, Amore should have been booked to kick out several times. Let Michael Cole and his crew scream, “Enzo simply will not give up!”
At Great Balls of Fire, Big Cass finished Enzo Amore by giving him the big boot. However, a better alternative to give Cass more heel heat would have been for him to pick up Amore during the pin fall attempt. Give Enzo a couple of more kicks. The fact that Amore refused to quit should make the WWE audience stand firmly behind him. In turn, that gives more heat to Big Cass.
Enzo Amore is not through
It’s fine to keep Enzo Amore off of Monday Night Raw. That helps to sell the beating he took at Great Balls of Fire. However, there are some that believe WWE simply kept him off television because they have nothing planned for him.
The feud between Enzo Amore and Big Cass should continue. Not necessarily right away but in time.
Right now, World Wrestling Entertainment has shifted Big Cass into a feud with the Big Show. That is the right move. Big Show is a former world heavyweight champion and more than likely Hall of Fame inductee some day. He’ll do the veteran thing and provide credibility to Big Cass.
Every few weeks or so, though, have Enzo Amore coming out of nowhere to bother Big Cass. That keeps the storyline between them going.
In the meanwhile, WWE should book Enzo Amore in matches against other lower level performers. Have him struggle at first to pick up victories. Do segments to show how hard he is working to improve. Let the audience know that his main goal in life is to finally be able to put up a fight against Big Cass some day.
