Back when he was a free agent, Alberto Del Rio was fielding offers from several companies. One of those companies was UFC. The promotion really wanted the former world heavyweight champion to come in and do a couple of fights. However, Del Rio was forced to reject their offer because the two sides could not come to terms on money. He stated that he was doing so well in professional wrestling that it would be a pay cut to jump to MMA.

Since he is one of the best performers on the independent wrestling circuit, many were under the belief that Jeff Jarrett was going to try to get Chris Sabin under contract once GFW started. Well, apparently, those rumors are true. The promotion has now signed the former world heavyweight champion, and he will more than likely be taking part in the upcoming summer tour. No word yet on what his status with ROH will be now.

Reports have surfaced that the former world heavyweight champion has been actively booking dates for himself in July and August. It is being said that he is actually contacting promoters and accepting their offers after having initially declined the deals to pursue a WWE contract.

That might no longer be the case, as the former world heavyweight champion has signed on for an event with Northeast Wrestling in August. He would not have done that if he was on the verge of signing a contract with WWE because the promotion does not usually allow their performers to work for another company.

When management made the last minute decision to change that show into the Elimination Chamber pay per view, it caused a scheduling conflict for the former world heavyweight champion. Booker had no choice but to postpone his camp for a later date.

He stated that the front office called and told him that they needed a special guest referee for a world heavyweight championship match. Since he thought it would be fun, Bully opted to sign on for the episode. He stated that he and Devon still enjoy having independent status.
