To promote his new book, Bob Backlund shared a story about when he started off in the professional wrestling business. He stated that he left home with just his car, clothes and $20. Backlund traveled from Minnesota to Louisiana to wrestle a match. Instead of being paid what he was promised, the former world champion was paid just $5, so he canceled his hotel, bought some tuna and slept in the trunk of his car.

If you're an independent wrestling promoter, and you want to have AJ Lee on your show, then it is going to cost you at least $15,000. She is asking for that as her daily rate and traveling expenses. Of course, the former diva isn't all that eager to take on these bookings at the moment because she does not really need the money. She would rather spend time with CM Punk as he trains for his UFC debut.

In a bit of news that is surely going to be blown out of proportion by the internet wrestling community, Christy Hemme has reportedly given her notice to TNA and will be leaving the company shortly. While many will speculate that this has something to do with the rumored financial situation that management has been trying to deal with, the reason for her departure is that she found a great job outside of wrestling and can avoid traveling.

From early on in his career, Cody Hall became married to the idea that he would not rush to sign with WWE. He wanted to be well traveled and well trained before accepting his destiny in the biggest wrestling promotion in the world. That move has turned out rather well because his stock has been rising pretty rapidly in the industry. Hall could conceivably jump ahead of other performers when he finally joins the developmental program.

In a sign that he is very close to being healthy again, Zack Ryder has started training for his potential return to WWE. He spent some time working out at the wrestling school owned by former tag team partner, Curt Hawkins. Ryder also traveled down to Florida to train at the Performance Center, which makes it easier for management to gauge his readiness. Still no word yet on when the actual return to television will take place, though.
