Earlier in the month, Kurt Angle was in Columbus, Ohio to accept an induction into the International Sports Hall of Fame. During the same weekend, Triple H was also in town to film some segments for WWE at the Arnold Sports Festival. The two of them made time to have a little meeting. No word yet on what was discussed, but since Angle is no longer with TNA and is a free agent, the belief was that they discussed a possible return to World Wrestling Entertainment.

While most everyone knows by now that New Japan legend Shinsuke Nakamura signed a contract with WWE, very little is known about the details of the agreement. For what it is worth, Tokyo Sports is reporting that Nakamura signed a three year deal with World Wrestling Entertainment, which would give him plenty of time to prove that he can be a star on the main roster. The company has been desperately seeking international stars.

Through FOX Sports, Jim Ross revealed a rather interesting story about Ole Anderson. Back when Undertaker was wrestling in WCW, his contract was coming to an end. Ross felt that the deal should have been renewed and tried to convince Anderson to make it happen. However, Anderson told Ross that he felt that Undertaker would never be a draw and doubted his future in the business.

Whenever there are celebrities involved with professional wrestling, it is usually because of the potential mainstream media attention that they can attract. That proved to be the case for WWE this week when they had international soccer superstar Wayne Rooney doing a segment where he slapped Wade Barrett on Monday Night Raw. It drew the attention of ESPN, New York Daily News, CBS Sports, Sky News and many others.

Earlier in the week, we learned that ESPN was going to be doing a weekly segment hosted by Jonathan Coachman on WWE that will be aired during Sportscenter. There are those in the network that are against the idea of having professional wrestling on their flagship show. They feel that it takes away from actual sports. Upper management, however, is all for it because they know that it will open up business opportunities for both sides.

When Jonathan Coachman made the leap from WWE to ESPN, the hope was that he might some day be able to bring more exposure to professional wrestling. That day might end up being Summerslam. The sports anchor teased fans through social media about potentially making a return at the pay per view. When asked even further, he made it sound as if he was not going to be there just as a spectator.

In what might prove to be a brilliant marketing move, GFW appears to be setting up a match between Phil Baroni and Chael Sonnen, both of whom achieved stardom in UFC. A match like this would easily generate interest from the mainstream media, especially all the major sports outlet. Baroni has been training at a wrestling school owned by D-Lo Brown.

According to the sports books, Brock Lesnar is the favorite to beat Seth Rollins at Battleground. While that may be enough to get the internet wrestling community into a frenzy, a deeper look reveals that they are not as certain as they have been in the past. Lesnar could end up winning the match but not capturing the WWE championship.

As two of the smarter businessmen in the industry, Bully Ray and Devon recently took the opportunity to publicly campaign for a return to WWE during an interview with Sports Illustrated. Team 3D stated that they were in the best shape of their lives, and that they would provide quite a bit of credibility to the tag team division in World Wrestling Entertainment.

Since he has been playing pretty close to his chest when it comes to negotiations on a new television deal, a lot of fans are skeptical that Jeff Jarrett is going to be able to secure a spot for GFW. Well, reports have now surfaced that he has definitely been in negotiations with several networks. The list includes WGN, Fox Sports 2 and CMT. The most interesting network on that list is Spike, which recently allowed Impact Wrestling to leave.
