However, he still wanted a way to be involved in the sport. Del Rio has found that way. The former world heavyweight champion has signed on to work as an announcer for a promotion in Mexico.

An incident took place at the latest GFW television taping, and it has left many to wonder if it was scripted or not. Phil Baroni jumped over the barrier and headed towards the ring. Security had to stop the former UFC star. Apparently, he has some beef with Chael Sonnen, who is a commentator for the promotion. There were reports earlier in the year that Global Force Wrestling was setting up a match between the two of them.

Booker T signs CW deal

It might not be discussed much within the internet wrestling community, but Booker T is proving himself to be quite the businessman. He just announced that his Reality of Wrestling promotion has just signed a deal with the CW, the network that used to air Smackdown a couple of years ago. Booker revealed that the show will air weekly on Sunday mornings in Houston and the surrounding areas.

His latest partnership might come in the form of OMEGA, the promotion that is owned and operated by Matt Hardy and Jeff Hardy. Jarrett allowed two of their performers to work a championship match at a GFW live event.

There are rumors floating around that Shawn Daivari was going to be signing a contract with GFW in the near future. However, if he does, it will have to be a deal that only allows him to work live events. Lucha Underground does not allow their performers to work television for any other wrestling promotion. Of course, that deal would be terminated if the company folds, as some have predicted.

It is unfortunate for wrestling fans in the Untied States that promoters here are unable to figure out how to get dual contracts so that performers can work in multiple places. In Japan, Kota Ibushi was the first person to do just that, as he was under contract with New Japan and a promotion called DDT. Companies like ROH, GFW and TNA would receive quite a boost from the talent exchange.

Rumors have surfaced that one of the reasons why a contract between WWE and Destination America has not been reached yet is the time slot. The network would obviously love to open up their Thursday night wrestling block with the most popular promotion, as it would draw viewers to TNA and ROH. However, Vince McMahon is not very keen on the idea of helping out his competition.

In a press release, Jeff Jarrett revealed that GFW will be helping to promote the final movie that Roddy Piper ever starred in. The film is called The Masked Saint, and it will be released in theaters next January. Prior to his death from a heart attack, Piper had agreed to work for Global Force Wrestling as an ambassador. That would have helped draw in fans to the promotion.

TNA recently filmed a segment for Impact Wrestling that featured Matt Hardy dressed up as Bigfoot. Much of the internet wrestling community was quick to criticize the promotion for doing something that outlandish. Well, it turns out that Destination America was the one that requested the segment to be done so they could use it to promote another show on the network.
