In order to help their performers make more money each year, TNA has decided to modify the rule that prevents them from working in other promotions. In the past, special permission was granted for the wrestlers to work on cards promoted by Tommy Dreamer, Jeff Hardy and Matt Hardy. Now, they are free to work internet pay per view events for smaller independent companies. ROH is still not an option for the wrestlers, however.

It is pretty easy to determine that Tommy Dreamer paid a lot of attention during his years as a professional wrestler because he has now become one of the top promoters in the game. Fans constantly rave about his House of Hardcore shows, which are usually packed with top stars. Dreamer is doing well enough to where he is thinking about taking his show to Canada. He has been looking at venues in Ontario for the next event.

The upcoming House of Hardcore VIII card was already stacked with well known wrestlers, but that was not enough for Tommy Dreamer. He signed another former WWE star for the show. Carlito has been added to the card, and he will be facing TNA star Matt Hardy and New Japan star Lance Hoyt in a triple threat match. Dreamer is reportedly not done with the final card for the event, so you can expect him to keep working the phones vigorously.

It appears that Tommy Dreamer was originally a big part of the plan for the upcoming Royal Rumble. While that does sound hard to believe, the idea that WWE had was to expand the main event match to include 40 performers instead of the usual 30. The additional contestants would have been made up of former ECW stars, as the pay per view is being held in Philadelphia. The fans in the area still have an affinity for the hardcore wrestlers that entertained them over a decade ago.
