For the past couple of weeks, it has been heavily rumored that WWE was going to choose New Orleans as the host of Wrestlemania 34 in 2018. Well, that is now official. The company is expected to make a big announcement soon on the location. The move comes as a bit of a surprise to some wrestling fan because Wrestlemania 30 took place at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in 2014. Some feel that another city should have been given a chance before World Wrestling Entertainment started going back through the rotation. Vince McMahon takes a lot of pride in the fact that these cities benefit greatly from the presence of his company.

Initially, WWE wanted to do a Wrestlemania event at the new US Bank Stadium, which is where the Minnesota Vikings play. It is considered one of the best venues in the NFL. It should be since it cost about $1.1 billion to build. Unfortunately for McMahon, he and the city of Minneapolis were not able to come to an agreement to make it happen on time. The two sides will simply have to wait for another year before getting together to hammer things out. It does appear like a partnership that both sides want because everyone benefits tremendously from it. It is just a matter of getting the deal done.

Another venue that WWE has in mind is the brand new Mercedes Benz Stadium, which is where the Atlanta Falcons will start playing now that the Georgia Dome is set to be replaced. Unfortunately, though, the venue has yet to open. When it does, there should be plenty of competition for booking events at the venue. Wrestlemania will some day take place there, though. It is just a matter of finding the right time to make it happen. Plus, doing a big event in the former home of WCW has to be quite appealing to McMahon.
