Wade Barrett

Wade Barrett written off

The reason why Stardust attacked Wade Barrett on Monday Night Raw this week was because the creative department needed to write him off for a couple of weeks. The King of the Ring is heading back to England to film a movie for WWE. Barrett created a bit of a buzz with the internet wrestling community when he started using his real name on social media, but that is more than likely done because he's an actor for the time being.

Big Show

Barrett replaces Miz

Originally, the plan by WWE was to have Miz team up with Stardust to take on Stephen Amell and Adrian Neville. However, management had to change up those plans when Ryback was injured and the feud including Big Show was stalled. A replacement was needed, so they decided on Wade Barrett, who really did not have an important program to work, despite being King of the Ring.

Bad News Barrett returning

When WWE announced that the King of the Ring was making a return, many were under the assumption that it would elevate one of the performers because it was one of the best gimmicks that the company has ever produced. Turns out, that is not the case. Reports have surfaced that Wade Barrett is going to be dropping the king gimmick and bringing back the Bad News Barrett gimmick instead.

Goldust joining Stardust

WWE announced this week that Stephen Amell would team up with Adrian Neville to take on Stardust and Wade Barrett at Summerslam. There were those backstage that were actually hoping that Goldust would be able to return in time to team up with his little brother. The belief was that the bizarre tandem would help intrigue the mainstream media attention that Amell is surely to bring.

Wade Barrett not pushed

When you consider that he has the total package as a wrestler, it is quite baffling that Wade Barrett has not been pushed into the main event scene for the past couple of years. Rumors have it that the reason why management is not fully behind him is because they are not happy with him being open about wanting to leave WWE in the near future. They are also concerned about him being a bit injury prone.

John Cena

Kevin Owens pulled

In a rather interesting development, WWE has decided to pull Kevin Owens from the upcoming series of live events. The NXT Heavyweight Champion was initially scheduled to work matches against John Cena at these shows. Since he has been pulled, the front office decided to add Wade Barrett as a replacement. He will more than likely work the matches against Cena. No word yet on why Owens was pulled for the weekend.

Adrian Neville

Neville vs Barrett at Payback

In what felt like a filler match at Payback, Adrian Neville was able to pick up a victory over Wade Barrett because the latter walked out of the ring and purposely never came back. While it was designed to provide more heel heat for Barrett, WWE ended up sucking the air out of the audience because they were really rooting for Neville to pick up the clean victory. From the looks of things, this feud is expected to last at least another month.

Adrian Neville in MITB

Despite the loss to Wade Barrett in the King of the Ring tournament, do not expect Adrian Neville to be dropped down the ladder by WWE. The front office still has every intention of keeping his push going. The belief is that Neville can be given a good amount of momentum by replacing Kofi Kingston as the high flyer in the upcoming Money in the Bank match. He is unlikely to win the thing, but he will be made to look very strong that night.

Wade Barrett wins KOTR

In a sign that WWE is going to push him, Wade Barrett was given the King of the Ring victory over Adrian Neville tonight. Plans must have been changed backstage recently because he was initially booked to put over Daniel Bryan at Extreme Rules a week ago. The absence of Bryan itself may have led to the change in decisions. The front office also did a good job of protecting Neville in the match by making it seem like he had a rib injury.
