WWE on Destination America

Rumors have surfaced that the network met with WWE to discuss the possibility of picking up one of their tertiary shows. Vince McMahon skipping Smackdown

Just to give you an idea of how important the company views the Tough Enough series, Vince McMahon has started to skip out on the Smackdown taping each week so that he can fly down to Florida to be on the set of the reality television show. For years, the CEO would always be on set to direct things, so this is quite the change in mentality.

Smackdown ratings tank

Generally, when you are doing the final week of promoting a pay per view, the interest level in the product increases. That is not the case with the latest episode of Smackdown. It received the lowest amount of viewers for a non holiday in years. Hopefully, this prompts Vince McMahon to make some changes with how the creative department handles things.

Smackdown on Thursday

While the company would never admit this, WWE has been rather disappointed with the move that Smackdown made from Friday nights to Thursday. Management was hoping for a considerable boost in the numbers because they were moving to a night where people do not go out as much. Unfortunately, though, the improvement was marginal. Vince McMahon is desperately hoping that the move to the USA Network will bring better numbers.

Smackdown to USA

Despite the fact that they have consistently put up tremendous numbers, WWE has never been able to earn the trust of the USA Network to allow them to have their secondary show on the same channel. That all changes at the end of the year, when Smackdown finally makes the move to the same network as Monday Night Raw. Vince McMahon is said to be quite pleased with the development because his viewership should increase.

The northeastern portion of the United States is being pounded by a storm that some are predicting to be one of the worst in history, and that does not bode well for WWE. An official statement was released by Vince McMahon earlier today, letting fans know that Monday Night Raw and Smackdown will not be taking place as usual. It is being said that Raw will be shown on Thursday this week. No word yet on when the traveling ban will be lifted.

WWE loses Mexico

In a very depressing bit of news, WWE is losing a lot of their market share in Mexico now. Monday Night Raw is no longer being aired on free television in the country. It is still available for those who pay for premium channels, but that is a severe drop in viewership. Smackdown has already been removed from the country. Vince McMahon has been desperately trying to resolve things down there because he views it as a major market and asset.
