In a move that has been expected but still surprising, Daniel Bryan has announced that he is going to retire from professional wrestling. The former world heavyweight champion attempted to gain his release from WWE so that he can go wrestle on the independent wrestling circuit. However, Vince McMahon refused to let him out of his contract, which is similar to the situation that Rey Mysterio was stuck in not too long ago.

Even though he has only been with WWE for less than a month, AJ Styles has already picked up some backstage heat. Even worse, the heat is with Vince McMahon himself. The CEO is upset with Styles because he signed a deal with a toy company prior to signing his contract with World Wrestling Entertainment. This is the same company that signed Kevin Owens back when he was receiving his big push against John Cena last year.

During a recent interview with the Daily Pioneer, the Great Khali revealed that he was once signed with WCW. He spent about six or seven months under contract with the promotion, where he was being trained and developed. When Vince McMahon purchased the company, WWE opted against buying his contract since he was so green at the time.

Rumors have surfaced that one of the reasons why a contract between WWE and Destination America has not been reached yet is the time slot. The network would obviously love to open up their Thursday night wrestling block with the most popular promotion, as it would draw viewers to TNA and ROH. In a very interesting note, Vince McMahon was not at the funeral for Roddy Piper this week. The two of them have had a rocky relationship over the years, as both are alpha males and very outspoken. WWE recently terminated the legends contract that Piper was under before he passed away from a heart attack. Triple H and Michael Hayes represented the company at the funeral.

Some new rumors have popped up in regards to Lisa Fox Lee being fired by WWE despite being with the company for nearly two decades. It is being said that Vince McMahon had her released because she was not able to successfully negotiate a contract to acquire the rights to the NWA library. Thus far, we've seen him do three shows with Vince McMahon, Triple H and Paul Heyman as his guests. Reports have surfaced that he now has 11 episodes left on his deal.

TNA wasn't the only wrestling promotion finalizing a new television deal in Italy this week. Vince McMahon did so as well. He has secured a contract that will enable WWE to keep broadcasting their programming in that country until the year 2020. The promotion has been with Sky Italia since 2003. The network stated that the business partnership between the two sides have been mutually beneficial and should continue on for years.

In a sign that Vince McMahon is stepping a bit away from his job as the CEO of WWE, Finn Balor revealed that he finally got a chance to meet the boss at the NXT live event that took place during Wrestlemania weekend. In the past, McMahon personally meets with every wrestler that he signs to a contract. This means that Triple H was the one that did the meeting and the negotiations. The changing of the guard is definitely happening.
