Over the past week, it was heavily rumored that Undertaker was going to make an appearance on Monday Night Raw. WWE fans received their wish when he actually showed up during an interview segment between Mick Foley and Stephanie McMahon, who teased the audience that there would be no special appearances this week. Undertaker cut a quick promo, where he told the fans that he has decided to enter himself into the Royal Rumble match. The former world heavyweight champion stated that he wanted to win because he really wanted to be in the main event title match at Wrestlemania 33.

It has been approximately a decade since the Undertaker was a participant in the Royal Rumble. In 2007, he actually last eliminated Shawn Michaels to earn himself a world heavyweight championship match at Wrestlemania 23. Undertaker would go on to defeat Batista for the World Heavyweight Championship in Detroit, but he had to drop the title shortly afterwards because of an injury.

Since we are still several days away from the Royal Rumble, WWE officials are still trying to decide who is going to win the big match and move on to a prime spot at Wrestlemania. Though he has aged considerably, Undertaker has to be considered one of the top candidates still because he usually has a big role at the biggest wrestling pay per view of the year.

There is also a chance that the Royal Rumble appearance is simply a way for WWE to set up a Wrestlemania program between Undertaker and Braun Strowman. During the segment on Monday Night Raw, cameras switched backstage, where Strowman was watching on a television monitor. The two of them could end up eliminating one another simultaneously, leading to a high profile match at Wrestlemania. That would give Strowman a bit of a push to be in the ring with a legend.
