Tommy Dreamer return

It is being said that WWE opted not to use Dreamer at the Royal Rumble because he works for TNA.

WWE cancels Royal Rumble plans

It appears that Tommy Dreamer was originally a big part of the plan for the upcoming Royal Rumble. While that does sound hard to believe, the idea that WWE had was to expand the main event match to include 40 performers instead of the usual 30. The additional contestants would have been made up of former ECW stars, as the pay per view is being held in Philadelphia. The fans in the area still have an affinity for the hardcore wrestlers that entertained them over a decade ago.
