TNA Victory Road 2007

TNA Victory Road was headlined by a "Match of Champions". Samoa Joe came into the match with the TNA X Division Championship, and he left the "Match of Champions" with two more title belts, the TNA World Tag Team Championships.

The main event was heavily promoted. It had a lot of hype. Fortunately, it delivered.

Superb performances as usual from Kurt Angle and Samoa Joe, both of whom are still among the best performers in the wrestling business.

Team 3D came through as well with a good performance. They displayed tremendous ring psychology, and were able to flip the switch from working as faces to working as heels.

The agents that booked the match also did a superb job as well. The match teased the audience with several twists, including a pseudo split between Brother Ray and Brother Devon.

Rick and Scott Steiner interfered during the match, but it didn't take too much away from the match since it was obvious that they were setting up the tag team rivalry for Hard Justice. Expect to see Rick and Scott Steiner facing off against Brother Ray and Brother Devon at the next pay per view.

The Ultimate X match was another match that was heavily hyped by fans because of the potential for exciting in-ring action. Just like the main event, this match delivered.

All ten men in the match came in and hit some pretty impressive spots. The action was fast paced and well timed. There wasn't a dull moment in the match.

The Rest

The rest of the show range from solid to good, with only the match between the Voodoo Kin Mafia and Basham/Damaja being subpar.

Fans reacted pretty negatively towards the VKM match for several reasons. First of all, the match wasn't announced and had no hype behind it. It was basically a rematch. The fans just weren't into it.

After the match, fans found out why the match happened. It was basically used to introduce Nikki Roxx to the TNA audience. Dressed up with a voodoo queen gimmick and an awkward dance, she joined the feud by attacking Christy Hemme.

Dustin Runnels Returns

Another notable moment from the pay per view was the return of Dustin Rhodes, better known to most fans as Goldust from the WWE. He made an appearance and attacked Chris Harris, which enabled Christian Cage to get the win.

Expect to see a feud between Dustin Runnels and Chris Harris next. Dustin Runnels is a terrific worker, especially on the mic. He should be able to help elevate Chris Harris further into the main event scene.

Conclusion

TNA Victory Road was an overall success because of the strengths of the Match of Champions and the Ultimate X match.

Samoa Joe & Angle defeated Team 3D

Tremendous match. The dynamics between Angle and Joe made the match even more interesting. Lots of ring psycology from all four men.

Christian Cage defeated Chris Harris

Good match that helped give Chris Harris a little more credibility. Dustin Runnels (formerly Goldust) interfered and started himself a feud with Chris Harris.

Kim & Young defeated Roode & Brookes

Not too bad of a match. Gail Kim proves again how underrated she is as a worker. Young and Roode work well together, but it's time for them to move on.

  MCMG defeated Lynn & Backlund

The Motor City Machine Guns defeated the old school team. Lynn and Backlund can still perform, but it should only be for special occasions.

James Storm defeated Rhino

Good match. Rhino was solid as usual. James Storm is going to become a big star in TNA. Match would have been better had it been more unpredictable.

Sting & Abyss defeated Styles & Tomko

Tomko continues to impress as these four men put on one hell of a match. Sting and Abyss were solid as usual. AJ Styles once again steals the show.

Christopher Daniels Wins Ultimate X

This match was crazy! So many awesome spots, including a flying RKO from the steel structure. Plus, we got to see Triple X reform. Match of the year candidate.

Voodoo Kin Mafia defeated the Bashams

Unannounced match. The crowd wasn't really too pleased with it. Lots of negative chants. Probably because the storyline needed a twist. They got one.
