TNA Bound For Glory 2007
TNA's biggest pay per view of the year, Bound For Glory, delivered on its promise of great wrestling matches and some surprises.

LAX beat XXX
Tremendous match here, filled with plenty of high spots and fast paced action. This is a match that you have to see. With the win, LAX becomes the new #1 contenders to the TNA World Tag Team Championship.
Eric Young Wins Battle Royale
The idea is still pretty stupid, but the wrestlers still put on a good performance in the ring. Apparently, Eric Young is getting a nice little push here since he's won two battle royales in a row this month.
AJ Styles & Tomko beat Team Pacman
Pacman Jones wasn't allowed to wrestle, so he found a replacement. It was an unknown wrestler whose gimmick was basically an imitation of Apollo Creed from the Rocky movies. The guy was pretty good, but the stupid gimmick overshadowed him. Stupid ending to a good match that saw Earl Hebner scrawling around for dollar bills. The Christian Coalition are the new TNA World Tag Team Champions.
Jay Lethal beat Christopher Daniels
Awesome match that exemplifies what the X division is. Both wrestlers were on their game for this match. The final sequence is one of the best finisher in wrestling this year. Quite surprising to see Jay Lethal winning to keep the belt here. |
Rick Steiner & Scott Steiner beat Team 3D
Not the greatest of matches, but there were enough weapons to keep things interesting. Some great spots from the Steiners, though, as we saw a top rope Frankensteiner and a flying combination bulldog that gave Rick Steiner & Scott Steiner the victory. Looks like TNA is setting up the next feud for Team 3D as the Motor City Machine Guns came out to help their fellow Michigan wrestlers.
Gail Kim Wins Battle Royale
Pretty decent match thanks to the nice variety of women wrestlers involved. Not sure how many of them are actually going to be kept on the roster, though. We understand the time constraint, but it did suck to see some of the new wrestlers being eliminated so early. Awesome Kong once again looks like an unstoppable force. Gail Kim beats Roxxi to become the first ever TNA Women's Champion.
Samoa Joe beat Christian Cage
Excellent match between these two guys. Matt Morgan played his role rather well by preventing AJ Styles and Tomko from interfering. Pretty cool to see Tomko and Matt Morgan going toe to toe. Both men got in their usual spots, which was nice to see. The ending came when Christian Cage finally submitted after a muscle buster and rear naked choke.
Abyss beat Raven, Rhino, and Black Reign
Plenty of crazy hardcore spots here to keep your attention. Rhino runs through a wall from the top of the ramp. Raven flies from the stands and puts Abyss through a table with an elbow drop. Raven takes the Black Hole Slam without his shirt on to a pile of broken glass and thumb tacks. Crazy match that saw Abyss getting the win.
Sting beat Kurt Angle
Very good match between the two. Kurt Angle even broke out his first ever 450 splash from the top rope. Plenty of interference from Kevin Nash and Karen Angle, but it can be forgiven since it's building up to the next feud. Sting gets the win and the TNA World Heavyweight Championship.
Closing Thoughts
It was obvious that the fans in the audience loved the show since they were loud the entire show. The fans watching at home also loved the pay per view as well, with a lot of people calling Bound For Glory one of the best shows of the year. |
