While doing a podcast interview, Jay Lethal revealed that plans were changed when he was working a feud against Ric Flair in TNA. Initially, the creative department had the Nature Boy winning the match. However, Flair didn't feel that was the right thing to do, so he can convinced the front office to let him put over Lethal. Reports have surfaced that WWE is indeed interested in signing Jay Lethal to a contract. The current ROH Heavyweight Champion has publicly stated that he would be more than interested in signing with the company. Lethal knows that he can only go so far by staying with Ring of Honor as they really have no plans on expansion. The former TNA star would be thrown into the NXT mix right away.

There appears to be very little interest from both sides on a TNA return by Jay Lethal. For starters, management is focused on acquiring newer performers who have never been on the big stage. They're also focused on acquiring guys with a lot of name value. As good as Lethal is, his name value is not as high as say someone coming off of a WWE stint. On the flip side, Lethal seems to have found a nice home with ROH, thanks to a lengthy title reign.

While it certainly is not as prestigious as holding the world heavyweight championship, ROH has decided to honor Jay Lethal by allowing him to break a couple of records. The former TNA star is now the longest reigning television champion in the history of the promotion. Lethal has defended the belt successfully a total of 22 times, which is also a record. No word yet if management has considered rewarding him with the big prize.
