TNA Impact Results - August 2, 2007

While not nearly as good as last week's episode, the debut of a former WWE star and a tag team ladder match main event made the show a pretty solid one again.

Big Gimmick Match Interesting that the writers used a big tag team gimmick match on TNA Impact to promote a big tag team gimmick match at Hard Justice. Christian Cage and AJ Styles wrestled against Sting and Abyss in a tag team ladder match. Up for grabs is a contract that will determine the fate between the two teams. If Christian Cage and AJ Styles wins the match, then Christian Cage never has to face Abyss ever again. If Abyss and Sting win, then they get Christian Cage in whatever type of match they want. As expected, Tomko interferes, but his efforts are voided by the debuting Andrew "Test" Martin. Sting and Abyss get the big win, and announce that they will be involved in a tag team cage match where a wrestler cannot be eliminated until he bleeds. An added stipulation to the match is that the cage will be covered in barbed wires at the top to prevent Christian Cage from escaping. Tomko's Toy Belt The IWGP Tag Team Championship belt is now a running joke in TNA. Christian Cage constantly refers to it as a toy belt now. It'd be interesting if that led to a big fallout between Christian Cage and Tomko. Hopefully, it doesn't because the Christian Coalition is one of the best things going in wrestling right now.

Kurt Angle Introduces Family

Kurt Angle introduced his wife, Karen, and his daughter to the TNA Impact Zone.

The attempt here is to make Kurt Angle look bad. They want to elevate his heel heat so that fans are rooting even harder for Samoa Joe to take the belts off of him.

Kurt Angle makes fun of her appearance and her manners. He also forces her to carry the TNA World Heavyweight Championship belt and the IWGP 3rd Generation Championship belt.

He even mocked Samoa Joe's weight as he was admonishing his daughter for wanting a snack.

As Kurt Angle continues to berate his wife in the ring, Samoa Joe comes out to confront him. In true heel fashion, Kurt Angle grabs and wife and uses her as a shield against Samoa Joe.

Samoa Joe allows Karen Angle the chance to speak out, and she does. It appears as if Karen Angle has turned on Kurt Angle.

Afterwards, Samoa Joe attacks Kurt Angle. He rips off Kurt Angle's Armani suit. Kurt Angle manages to escape.

Closing Thoughts

Once again, TNA Impact is fueled by the comedic efforts of Christian Cage, Kurt Angle, and Kevin Nash. It's a good formula to follow.

Team 3D defeated Harris & Young

Dustin Runnels attacks Chris Harris. Team 3D gets the win with a sloppy spike piledriver on Eric Young. Robert Roode attacks Eric Young.

Triple X defeated Dutt & Lethal

Good tag team action. Triple X wins after Senshi hits his Warriors Way flying stomp and Christopher Daniels hits the BME moonsault.

This was a tag team ladder match. This match should have been a pay per view match. Sting and Abyss get the win thanks to Andrew Martin's help.

Andrew "Test" Martin makes his debut by helping Sting and Abyss beat Christian Cage and AJ Styles in the main event tag team ladder match.

Robert Roode With Feathers

Robert Roode attacks Eric Young after his tag team match. He then proceeds to tar and feather Eric Young with feathers from a pillow case.

To generate more heel heat for Kurt Angle, the writers had him introduce his family to TNA Impact. Hilarious skits as Kurt Angle makes fun of his wife.

More Dr. Nash

Kevin Nash continues to entertain in backstage skits. This week, he attempts to flirt with Kurt Angle's wife. When she rejects him, he insults her.

Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin showed up at ringside during the tag team match to scout Triple X. A small altercation occurs after the match.
