As expected, Matt Hardy and Jeff Hardy were forced to vacate the tag team championship because the former has been left on his own as the latter is going to need several months to recover from a dirt bike injury. TNA has decided to have Bobby Roode and Austin Aries join the fray. The two of them will be facing Davey Richards and the returning Eddie Edwards in a best of five series to determine which team will hold the belts.

Since Bobby Roode is considered one of the best overall performers in the entire professional wrestling industry, it was an easy decision for TNA to want to keep him around. John Gaburick has managed to pull that off. A new contract has been signed between the two sides, and the former world heavyweight champion will be with the company for at least another year. Roode has long maintained that he is loyal to promotion that gave him a chance.
