While the general consensus in professional wrestling is that the world heavyweight champion plays a bit part in the overall success of the company, a recent article from Forbes attempts to dispute that by looking at the financial ramifications during the title reigns of CM Punk, John Cena and Randy Orton. In approximately two years, TNA has reduced the amount of contracted performers by nearly half, going from 60 to 33 during that stretch of time. Dixie Carter and company have been forced to allow performers to leave whenever their contracts expire because they need to become fiscally responsible if they wish to remain in business. Rumor has it that only Kurt Angle, Jeff Hardy, Bully Ray, Samoa Joe, Abyss, James Storm, Bobby Roode and Mr Anderson have big salaries.

Tensai
Since he has been making the transition from in ring performer to commentator, Tensai has been contemplating a name change, as his current moniker does not suit his new position with WWE NXT. The return was designed to be a short term thing, as the former undisputed champion still has other business ventures that he wants to focus on. There are talks that Jericho could be convinced to stick around in WWE a bit longer if an interesting program can be created for him.
July 28, 2014
Steve Austin
Earlier in the month, Steve Austin made a comment about WWE being too scripted for his taste. While those comments would surely bring backstage heat on one of their mid card performers, it is being said that there is absolutely no heat towards Austin, as management knows that they might need him for business down the line.
July 28, 2014
Triple H
On Monday Night Raw, Triple H cut a promo that took a jab at wrestling fans online. Some more details have been revealed now. It has been said on multiple occasions that he hates fans who think they know how the business works.

July 6, 2014
Curt Hawkins
"First, I don't often explain myself to no one, but I had no idea anyone got let go. I was asked to post about birthday. That's what came out. It was about my 18 year journey. I know where you live, dude. It's a small world. An apology is due. If not, well, you know me. I'll handle our business." - Mark Henry responding to Curt Hawkins about his insensitive Tweet on the day of his WWE release
June 13, 2014
Bray Wyatt
"If Luke Harper were a stock, I'd be buying him now. I've watched carefully for a while, and in the past two months, I've finally become sold on the big man, not only as an invaluable part of the bizarre The Wyatt Family, but as a potential breakout star on his own. Finding your way, and blazing your own unique path is no easy task in WWE, especially when standing in the very long shadow of Bray Wyatt. But Harper has found that way. I wasn't ready to buy into the Bruiser Brody comparison, no matter how many times it was brought up. Brody, a legend in the business, and a huge inspiration on my own career, was known as "the intelligent monster." Harper has excelled in my mind, by stepping off that path that Brody blazed, and finding his own, unique way to excel in WWE - as the guy who can do anything at any time, without any seeming rhyme or reason. The hurricanrana followed by a dropkick makes perfect sense, because it makes absolutely no sense. Here's one wrestling fan looking forward to Luke Harper's matches making little sense, but a huge impact on WWE Monday Night Raw for a long time to come." - Mick Foley praises Luke Harper
June 11, 2014
Kenta Kobayashi
Rumors have it that WWE has been signing some of the best international talent to their developmental program. Names like Kevin Steen, Prince Devitt and Kenta Kobayashi have surfaced as potential candidates to join the company later on this year. Unfortunately, though, WWE will not be bringing in Sarita, long considered one of the best international female performers in the business. She received a tryout with the company back in March but no contract has been offered.
June 4, 2014
Vince McMahon
With the declining stock prices recently, there have been talks backstage in WWE of taking the company private again. However, that is highly unlikely to happen as Vince McMahon loves the fact that his company is now public. There is more of a prestige with that status. Plus, McMahon feels that being public lends some credibility to WWE in the business world.
May 26, 2014
Kota Ibushi
While his name is not known to the majority of fans in the United States, people within the industry believe that Kota Ibushi is the best high flying wrestler in the business. The New Japan star has caught the attention of WWE. The company wants to sign the current IWGP Junior Champion and bring him overseas. Management has been pushing recently to bring an influx of new performers into the developmental program.
May 23, 2014
Scott Norton
"Being part of that was amazing. The biggest heel team of all time, probably the most popular group of guys ever in pro wrestling, we took that thing to the limits. Nitro was just exploding, wrestling was exploding, it was absolutely the biggest thing in pro wrestling ever. So being a part of it, I was very grateful to be in the right time, right place. We had a great group of guys being around it, being involved in it; absolutely the best part of the business for me here in the states." - Scott Norton discusses what the nWo meant to WCW
May 21, 2014
Daniel Bryan
While many are trying to downplay the severity of the neck injury, many people backstage in WWE are a bit concerned about Daniel Bryan. Some feel that the doctors are going to find the situation much worse once they operate on him on Thursday. Bryan is very well liked in WWE, so the concerns are more genuine as opposed to simply being about business.
May 14, 2014
Chris Jericho
"For relevant reasons. Once in a while you'll shoot texts back and forth with somebody, or if there's some business thing going on, like if they need something signed or a scan for a video game or something like that but it's not like I talk to the WWE every week and give them my thoughts on what's going on with them or they call me and give their opinions on what I've been doing. It's a business relationship and like everything else when you're gone you're gone and when you're back you're back and if there's anything in-between on a business level or a personal level I'll get in contact with them. I have a good relationship with the WWE and there's no animosity but it's not like we're calling each other every day finding out what we had for dinner that night." - Chris Jericho on his business relationship with WWE
May 9, 2014
Shaul Guerrero
There are rumors floating around right now that Shaul Guerrero was released by WWE because the company wanted to punish her because her mother is leaving soon. AJ Styles
"It's unfortunate. At the end of the day this is a business, not everybody is going to be happy and people go their separate ways. It's the wrestling business and we're seen it happen a million times. Unfortunately, AJ Styles was a TNA original and was the face of our company for a very long time. That departure bothers me the most. I had a great relationship with AJ, we were friends, we were part of Fortune together, and we had some great matches. I understand where AJ's coming from, it's all business, and I wish him nothing but the best. Sting was a great guy to have in our locker room. He was a veteran leader. A guy that you can go and talk to, a guy who I had some memorable matches, and a guy who mentored me a lot and taught me a lot in the ring. He's an icon; his name will live forever in this business. And I wish him nothing but the best of luck. At the end of the day this is a business and you've got to do what you can for yourself." - Bobby Roode talks about people leaving TNA
April 30, 2014
Brock Lesnar
"Here's a guy that has a huge ego. He has a hard time with putting anybody over and let alone outside the business when someone like Brock Lesnar would have to hurt him. His ego wouldn't let him walk around in a sling. He wants people to know it's entertainment unless he's the one doing it then he wants you to walk around in a leg cast. This is what I see the problem is and I've been pretty critical about it. You've got somebody in that position that's got too big of an ego to run a company like that. Triple H goes to extreme lengths to look good, to be big and cut and make sure he's on the cover of the muscle magazine and make sure he's in fitness things. He's the guy who's putting himself in the forefront. For anybody to run a company like the WWE, you can't be that guy. You've got too much talent out there for you to put yourself out there in front of them." - Ken Shamrock bashing HHH for backstage politics
April 28, 2014
Roman Reigns
"He's smart enough to listen. He's smart enough to pay attention and pick up little things. He's someone who's a student of the game. He played football before he got here. He didn't spend as much time doing this as we had, but it's in his blood. His family's a huge part of this business. He's just a guy who's built for it. It's just part of him. We spend a lot of time in the car and a lot of time in the ring together, and stuff like that, so if he's not learning, then something's not right. But I think it's pretty clear that over the past 18 months that we've been teamed up up here that his progression and his development has been accelerated, to say the least." - Seth Rollins discusses how Roman Reigns is learning in WWE

Diamond Dallas Page
"First of all, I wanted to leave. Oh my god, this woman was so nice to me when I walked in there. Once she started hitting me with that deal, I got scared. I go 'Oh my god, she set me up, so should I get up and walk away? How is that going to make the business look?' I breathed, I focused on breathing. The only thing I could think of at that time was that WWE has the best wellness program, better than the NBA, NFL, MLB, so I think that is fighting for the company. I thought about firing back at her (Nancy Grace), but it was a really weird situation. I can't put that bitch over. I can't talk about her anymore, I want to strangle her. The last thing I want to be is in that position. The way it was told to me is that I saw four questions. I said 'I don't know about this' and Nancy Grace said 'No, it's gonna be a feel good piece.' When I walked in there, she was so sweet to me. She totally set me up." - Diamond Dallas Page talks about Nancy Grace

It is especially high if you take into account that he is now transitioning from in ring performer to commentator.
February 23, 2014
Brodus Clay
There are those backstage in WWE that are wondering why the feud between Brodus Clay and Tensai never surfaced. Obviously, management wanted it to happen at one point, as they gave the split some television time. The feeling is that there is backstage heat on Clay, as he has not been utilized on television in three weeks now.
February 16, 2014
Tensai
With the way things are looking right now, it appears that Tensai is done as a full time in ring performer for WWE. He has been spending a lot of time lately working in other areas of the company. He has done commentary for WWE NXT and is currently working on a show for the WWE Network. He might still work matches occasionally, though.
February 15, 2014
Brodus Clay
There is some confusion backstage in WWE over what the company is doing with Brodus Clay. While they made the effort to turn him heel, give him a new look and split him apart from Tensai, Naomi Knight and Cameron, management hasn't exactly been behind his push. He has lost his last seven televised matches and has only been used on Smackdown once this year.

While many fans are under the impression that it is a permanent thing, WWE might not be doing a permanent heel turn with Brodus Clay. The belief is that this is just to give Xavier Woods something to work with.
