TNA and Wrestle 1 partnership

There are rumors floating around that the partnership between TNA and Wrestle 1 has come to an end. Much of the speculation stems from the fact that Seiya Sanada was released from his contract before it was set to expire in July. Interesting enough, Sanada has opted to remain in the United States instead of going back to work in Japan. Nothing has been confirmed from either the Great Muta or Dixie Carter at this point in time.

TNA calling Drew McIntyre

In a rather interesting little tidbit, Drew McIntyre almost never signed with TNA. He said that he was sleeping at the time and didn't recognize the number that was calling, so he simply threw his phone on the bed. The front office tried contacting him a couple of times and failed. Then, Tommy Dreamer decided to take things into his own hands by sending a text message to McIntyre to let him know that the company wanted to sign him.

According to Vince Russo, Sting is very nervous in anticipation of his high profile match against Triple H at Wrestlemania tonight. The former head writer of WWE stated that he worked closely with the WCW legend when the two of them were in TNA together. Russo stated that the former world heavyweight champion always cared about every single detail in his match, so he is worried his performance might not live up to the hype.

Gunner in movie

The latest professional wrestler to make his way into Hollywood is Gunner. TNA issued an official statement to help promote the movie. They stated that he recently wrapped up filming The Battle of New Orleans, which is actually a working title. This is the first lead role in a movie for the former United States Marine. Interestingly enough, he played a member of an elite Navy SEAL as they engaged in a battle with an unknown opponent.

Kurt Angle contract details

Kurt Angle revealed an interesting detail about his contract during a recent interview with the MMA Hour. He stated that he was only required to work 40 dates a year for TNA. Since the company tapes approximately 50 episodes of Impact Wrestling each year, that means that the former world heavyweight champion is not actually required to work house shows. Angle could opt to do some of them if he wishes, however.

Hardy Boys tournament

A rather interesting omission from the upcoming tag team championship tournament in TNA is Jeff Hardy and Matt Hardy. As of right now, the brothers have not been officially announced as entrants. From what we know, both guys are under contract to the promotion for at least another year, so that can be ruled out as a factor for their absence. Management could also be saving their announcement to build up the anticipation from the audience.

Elijah Burke return

The next series of Impact Wrestling episodes being taped in May should be interesting ones. There are talks that Elijah Burke could be making his return to TNA during that point in time. He even teased it publicly on social media. Burke left the company more than two years ago and has remained active on the independent wrestling circuit. Despite being one of the best talkers in the business, WWE showed no interest in bringing him back on board.

Lisa Marie to Lucha Underground

With the company wanting performers that the fans are going to recognize, an interesting name has surfaced on the desk of Lucha Underground officials. Lisa Marie Varon is now a candidate to be signed by the promotion, and she brings along a huge fan base. She worked as Victoria in WWE and Tara in TNA. The veteran performer also recently moved to Los Angeles after putting her highly successful restaurant in Chicago up for sale.

Samoa Joe gone

With Samoa Joe gone from the company, there is a bit of a void in TNA. Management reportedly already has a plan in place. With the money that they are saving by the expiration of his big money contract, they intend on investing in new talent. There are a lot of talented performers on the independent wrestling circuit that could be signed for a relatively cheaper price. The company could end up bringing in two or three new stars to develop.
