Benjamin defends Steiner

An interesting scenario played out at a recent GFW live event in Jackson, Mississippi. Scott Steiner was in the ring, cutting a promo, when he was interrupted by Chris Masters. The two had to be pulled apart to stop a brawl. Masters wrestled Benjamin in the main event, and Steiner came out to hit Masters with a bat. Benjamin then cut a promo, telling the fans that he defended Steiner's honor.

Kevin Owens

Kevin Owens pulled

In a rather interesting development, WWE has decided to pull Kevin Owens from the upcoming series of live events. The NXT Heavyweight Champion was initially scheduled to work matches against John Cena at these shows. Since he has been pulled, the front office decided to add Wade Barrett as a replacement. He will more than likely work the matches against Cena. No word yet on why Owens was pulled for the weekend.

Brock Lesnar

WWE pay per view in Japan

Fans have long been begging WWE to do more pay per view events from overseas, and the company has decided on just that. Management has decided to convert a regular live event in Japan into a special that will air on their online video subscription service. The addition of Brock Lesnar helped the company to sell out the event, so they decided to take advantage of that by broadcasting the show in the United States.

Brock Lesnar

Brock Lesnar working Japan

On July 4, 2015, WWE is doing a live event at the Sumo Hall in Tokyo. The show just received a bit of a boost, as Brock Lesnar has signed on to wrestle that night. He was originally planning on going to Japan anyways to meet with the legendary Masa Saito. The former world heavyweight champion opted to work, so that he can have his trip paid for. In a rather interesting move, management has chosen Kofi Kingston as his opponent that night.

Sasha Banks

NXT salaries

One of the added benefits of NXT doing a national tour is that it might enable the company to increase the amount of money that is being paid to the performers. That, of course, depends heavily on whether or not they can turn a profit from the live events. Based on the results that we have seen during the testing period thus far, it looks likely to happen. A champion like Sasha Banks would more than likely have a higher salary than others.

Hulk Hogan

WWE Network in Japan

In a rather interesting move, WWE is set to launch the Network in Japan. Many are wondering if the company will do well over there because the people of that country have not been really supportive of the product. Management had to rely on Hulk Hogan last time to draw in the audience to their last series of live events. Another thing to keep an eye on is whether or not their online video subscription service can outdraw the one by New Japan.

Shinsuke Nakamura

Bryan vs Nakamura

Last month, Daniel Bryan revealed in an interview that he wanted to wrestle his former roommate and training partner Shinsuke Nakamura at Wrestlemania in Dallas next year. Now, the popular star is requesting that management bring the New Japan star on board when WWE tours Japan this year. Bryan feels that an interpromotional match between the two of them would help draw in fans to the live events in Tokyo.

Sheamus

Dolph Ziggler injury

To help further sell Sheamus as a heel, WWE has announced that Dolph Ziggler is unable to compete on Smackdown this week. He is not actually injured. It will be interesting to see just how far the front office takes the story. There are no live events planned for this upcoming weekend, as the performers are being given a little bit of rest before taking off for a tour of Europe. Ziggler is expected to be on Monday Night Raw this week.

Corey Graves

Corey Graves show

When Corey Graves was forced to retire as an in ring performer, WWE gave him another job by putting him at the commentating table. They are now going to start using him in a different manner. Graves will be hosting a show called Culture Shock, where he goes around to various locations that the company does live events in. He'll visit the Marvel comics headquarters, a tattoo parlor on the lower east side of Manhattan and more.
