In a very interesting move, ROH has decided to give Matt Jackson a chance at their world heavyweight championship on Saturday night at a live event in Duluth, Georgia. Jackson will be challenge Jay Lethal for the title that night. Matt normally works tag team matches with his brother, but Ring of Honor management wants to see how well he can do as a singles competitor, much like what the NWA did with Ricky Morton and Ric Flair.

Finn Balor teasing heel turn

During the NXT live event in Green Bay over the weekend, Finn Balor defended the heavyweight championship against Sami Zayn. It is interesting to note that Balor worked as a heel during the match. Finn has been teasing fans that the Bullet Club stable was coming to WWE soon. If formed, Karl Anderson and Doc Gallows are more than likely going to be portraying heels, so it makes sense for Balor to become one as well.

WWE wants Bully Ray

A rather interesting development is taking place in WWE, and it might leave Devon out in the cold. Management is reportedly looking into the idea of splitting up the Dudley Boyz once again because they want to see if the Bully Ray character, which held the TNA World Heavyweight Championship, would do well in World Wrestling Entertainment. The split could happen very soon, maybe even the Royal Rumble.

In a rather interesting bit of trivia, the last time that Hulk Hogan successfully defended the WWE Heavyweight Championship was at Wrestlemania 3 during his legendary match against Andre the Giant. Many are under the assumption that successful title defenses at the biggest pay per view of the year were a more frequent occurrence for Hogan but they're not.

Ric Flair not putting over Lex Luger

A longstanding rumor was confirmed by Ric Flair during his latest podcast interview show. He reiterated that he refused to drop the WCW World Heavyweight Championship to Lex Luger, who had chased Flair and the belt for a very long time. The reason why the Nature Boy refused to do that was because he had promised the title to Sting. This caused a major conflict with promoter Jim Herd and caused Flair to leave for WWE.

Backlund bashes Snuka

When asked about his opinions on Jimmy Snuka, Bob Backlund had some interesting things to say. Backlund stated that he never really liked Snuka because of how he handled himself outside of the ring. Backlund even stated that if Snuka was a decent human being, WWE would have put the heavyweight championship on him at one point in time. Snuka is currently on trial for murder.

Sting neck not broken

Some good news in regards to the injury that Sting suffered at Night of Champions during his WWE Heavyweight Championship match against Seth Rollins. While it still seems quite severe, reports have surfaced that his neck is definitely not broken. Some are still considered that it might be a spinal injury. Regardless, though, management is said to be hesitant about using him in the ring again.

John Cena regaining belt

By putting the United States Heavyweight Championship on John Cena, WWE made the belt relevant again. They more than likely will be going back to that well at Night of Champions, as the belief is that Cena will be taking back the belt. Management wants to do that so that fans will believe that it is possible for Seth Rollins to lose the world heavyweight championship later on in the night to Sting.

Sting at Night of Champions

The decision to have Sting challenging Seth Rollins for the WWE Heavyweight Championship at Night of Champions was not a long term plan. It was made recently. The belief is that management made the decision after they decided to make the Network free this month. By having a big name legend in the main event, the front office is hoping that it will encourage fans to subscribe to their online video service.
