Smackdown Spoilers - May 23, 2008
by Jack Windham
La Familia shows some unity again after teasing a split on last week's episode of Smackdown.
Match Listings
The following matches will happen tonight on Smackdown.
- Deuce, Domino, Maryse vs Jesse, Festus, Cherry
- Finlay vs Chuck Palumbo
- Batista vs MVP
- Vladimir Kozlov vs Nunzio
- Matt Hardy & Kofi Kingston vs Shelton Benjamin & Elijah Burke
- Undertaker vs Chavo Guerrero
Family Reunion
It looks like last week's split might have only been a tease by La Familia because this week, they're back together.
Chavo Guerrero is booked against the Undertaker this week, and the entire La Familia are there to give him a helping hand.
Of course, the split could still happen, though. You never know since the writers are apt to change their minds on a weekly basis.
Stalling
It looks like WWE is still stalling on Matt Hardy, Finlay, and MVP.
None of these guys are involved in a feud right now, so they continue to be placed in random matches.
Finlay is in a meaningless match against Chuck Palumbo, who is also a wrestler without a feud.
Matt Hardy is being used this week to enhance the feud between Kofi Kingston and Shelton Benjamin.
MVP is being used in a match against Batista this week. His momentum continues to slide because management hasn't put him into anything meaningful since he lost the US title.
Would it really kill them to do a three way feud between Finlay, MVP, and Matt Hardy for the US title?
Natalya Neidhart
Apparently, management hasn't figured out what to do with Natalya Neidhart because she wasn't used on either ECW or Smackdown this week.
Boggling the Mind
Management also is confused as to what to do with Batista, it seems.
He's involved in a major program with Shawn Michaels, but they still need to give him something to do on Smackdown.
So, they had him standing up for Theodore Long and destroying MVP's interview set.
I wouldn't really be bothered by the writing as much if I felt that it would actually lead to something for MVP.
Closing Thoughts
The writing this week doesn't sound like it makes much sense, so hopefully, the actual in-ring stuff will make up for it. |
