While much of the internet wrestling community has been predicting that Roman Reigns will recapture the WWE Heavyweight Championship at TLC, odds makers feel the opposite. Right now, Sheamus is a heavy favorite at -750. Odds on Reigns are +450. The belief is that the Celtic Warrior is going to keep the belt so that he can build up more momentum as a heel champion. That helps Roman in the long run.

Five years ago, John Morrison defeated Sheamus in a ladder match at TLC to earn himself a shot at the world heavyweight championship. He received that title shot on episode of Monday Night Raw that took place on January 3, 2011. Morrison lost to his former tag team partner, The Miz, in a Falls Count Anywhere match. One of the reasons why WWE put the world heavyweight championship on Sheamus is because they want the fans to root for whoever he is up against. The Celtic Warrior does a pretty decent job of generating heel heat. Plus, a lot of fans aren't keen to the idea of him being in the top spot. Management has noticed that the reaction to Roman Reigns has been a bit warmer because of it.

When Sheamus cashed in the Money in the Bank briefcase at Survivor Series and stole the WWE Heavyweight Championship away from Roman Reigns, fans complained that the Celtic Warrior did not have enough momentum for the role. WWE received some very good news last night when Sheamus showed up at the arena. The medical staff was able to clear him of a concussion. He had been having symptoms since the last episode of Monday Night Raw. That enabled the creative department to include him in the final segment with Randy Orton and Seth Rollins, which possibly sets up a world heavyweight championship match between the three at Summerslam.

There is a very good chance that John Cena might not heal quick enough to work Summerslam, so WWE has a couple of backup plans in place. The first one is simply to have Randy Orton challenging for the world heavyweight championship. If the front office does not feel that the match would be much of a draw, then there is a chance that they might add Sheamus and make it a triple threat.

It appears that WWE is going back to the well again with Sheamus. After previously not being able to keep him in the main event scene, management is set to pull the trigger and make him the top star once more. As of right now, the plan is for the Celtic Warrior to win the heavyweight championship sometimes within the next twelve months.

Going into the Elimination Chamber, Sheamus was initially penciled in as the person that was scheduled to walk out of the enormous steel cage structure with the Intercontinental Championship in his hand. However, as a sign that WWE still continues to change up plans on a frequent basis, management opted to put the belt on Ryback for whatever reasons. A lot of people backstage have been impressed with the Big Guy as of late.
