Shawn Michaels discusses Ricky Morton and Robert Gibson
Jim Ross recently sat down with Shawn Michaels. The two of them had quite the wrestling discussion. One of the topics is near and dear to both of their hearts. Ross and Michaels talked about the Rock & Roll Express. Ross got to witness their greatness firsthand because he commented plenty of their matches. Michaels, on the other hand, was a wide eyed teenager. He played the role of pupil and fan from the backstage area. At just 19 years of age, Shawn got to watch the Rock & Roll Express battling the Midnight Express in nightly classics.
Shawn Michaels praises Ricky Morton
When his career first started, Shawn Michaels was compared to Ricky Morton. It was an easy comparison because Michaels and Marty Jannetty used a similar gimmick to Morton and Robert Gibson. Some even felt that the Midnight Rockers straight up copied the Rock & Roll Express. Michaels views Morton quite highly. Shawn feels that Ricky is one of the best at selling moves. He compares him to Ricky Steamboat in that regard. The Dragon is considered the best seller by many in the industry.
Rock & Roll Express forgotten
Shawn Michaels acknowledged that there are plenty of fans who do not remember the Rock & Roll Express. He stated that they were from a different generation. When fans online list their best teams, Ricky Morton & Robert Gibson are not always given the credit that they deserve. However, they definitely belong near the top. Their induction into the WWE Hall of Fame is the right move. Those that were fortunate enough to watch them would agree with that statement wholeheartedly. So, count Michaels as someone that agrees.Categories: News
