Thanks to the success of Samoa Joe, Kevin Owens and Finn Balor, the road has been paved for independent wrestling veterans to make their way over to WWE. During a recent interview, Christopher Daniels stated that he is interested in following in their footsteps. However, he revealed that he is currently contractually obligated to ROH.

Since there was so much confusion within the internet wrestling community over the situation, ROH decided to release an official statement in regards to Samoa Joe working the television taping on June 20, 2015. Even though he is under contract with WWE, he will honor his contract and work the tag team match with AJ Styles. It is being billed as his final appearance.

When it was revealed earlier that Samoa Joe had impressed WWE so much that they offered him a full time contract, the internet wrestling community began to wonder if that meant that he was going to be placed on the main roster immediately. Fans are going to have to wait a couple of months, as management needs the former world heavyweight champion to be the focal point of NXT, as star power on the developmental roster has dwindled a bit.

For years, WWE decided to neglect Samoa Joe every time that he was a free agent. Apparently, that was a mistake. Now that the former world heavyweight champion has been signed to a developmental deal, he was able to impress management is a short period of time. The front office was so impressed with his work, the buzz he created and his merchandise sales that they decided to upgrade him to a full time deal instead.

Even though he is signed to a contract with WWE now, Samoa Joe is scheduled to make a return to ROH and work a television taping. Of course, that deal has now been complicated because Ring of Honor has now been picked up by Destination America, which means that the promotion can now be seen in every state. World Wrestling Entertainment generally has a policy against performers being used on TV elsewhere.

Developmental wrestlers in WWE generally do not get paid a lot of money, and that was one of the things that caused Samoa Joe to be hesitant about signing a contract with the company. In order to get the deal done, management opted to give him a contract that might help them secure more of the top performers on the independent scene. Joe is being allowed to work for other promotions, provided that he does not appear on television.

In another sign that Samoa Joe might not be headed to WWE after all, Triple H was asked about the situation during an interview. He wisely downplayed the recent visit that Joe paid to the performance center. HHH claims that his chat with Joe only lasted about five minutes and that the two were basically just exchanging pleasantries. He also stated that NXT is more of an environment for a younger performer as opposed to a veteran.

Earlier in the day, it was reported that Samoa Joe had been announced for a big Northeast Wrestling event in August. Some further details have been revealed. Reports have surfaced that the former world heavyweight champion has been actively booking dates for himself in July and August. It is being said that he is actually contacting promoters and accepting their offers after having initially declined the deals to pursue a WWE contract.

Professional wrestling fans have been ecstatic over the rumors that Samoa Joe is going to finally join NXT. That might no longer be the case, as the former world heavyweight champion has signed on for an event with Northeast Wrestling in August. He would not have done that if he was on the verge of signing a contract with WWE because the promotion does not usually allow their performers to work for another company.
