To capitalize on the Wrestlemania hype, Jim Ross did a one man show in northern California this week. He brought along a special guest, and the audience was pretty excited to see him. Samoa Joe made a special appearances on the show. The two of them had a discussion onstage, and there was a strong indication that the former world heavyweight champion would be joining the WWE developmental program in the very near future.

Earlier in the week, Samoa Joe was spotted hanging out with other wrestlers at Walemania. It's not all fun and games, however. The former world heavyweight champion worked a match for ROH, where he challenged Jay Briscoe for their version of the heavyweight championship. Briscoe successfully retained, but that does not come as a surprise to those who believe that Joe will be signing up with the WWE developmental program soon.

The official announcement has been made in regards to him signing a new contract to remain with TNA for at least another year. The former United States Heavyweight Champion has been quite pleased with how the company has been utilizing him since he started with them. His status with the company had been a bit of a question mark with Samoa Joe leaving.

While doing an interview with Chris Jericho on his podcast show, Samoa Joe acknowledged publicly that he has had some discussions with WWE. The former TNA World Heavyweight Champion stated that negotiations are ongoing, but he obviously cannot provide any deals on the matter. Joe will likely be in NXT soon.

In a move that many thought would be impossible, it now appears that WWE will be signing Samoa Joe to a contract very soon. Reports have surfaced that the two sides have come to an agreement on terms. The belief is that the deal will not take place before April, as Joe has already committed to working matches for ROH in the month of March. Despite being a former TNA World Heavyweight Champion, Joe will be going through developmental still.

He addressed the audience, which gave him a rather warm reception, and informed them that he will be gunning for the heavyweight championship. Since he is only signed for four shows and Ring of Honor is unlikely to be able to afford to give him a long term contract, Joe is unlikely to be given the championship.

Reports have surfaced that the majority of people backstage are upset that the former world heavyweight champion is leaving the promotion. Joe was very well liked backstage by his peers, and some even viewed him as a locker room leader. His departure has affected morale a bit.

While he has yet to announce his plans, the widespread belief is that the former world heavyweight champion is going to include a tour of New Japan to his itinerary. Joe is a big fan of the country, and the scene over there is pretty hot right now. It would be a nice change of pace for him.

When he informed management that he was going to seek other opportunities in the industry, they told him that there was no backstage heat on him for leaving. Officials also informed the former world heavyweight champion that the door for a return would remain open for him.
