Since he has lost a lot of momentum, WWE is considering the possibility of a heel turn for Samoa Joe. The feeling is that an NXT Heavyweight Championship match between two heels is not going to be as much of a draw, even though both performers are among the best in the world. Joe might only be a heel on a temporary basis because the front office thinks he can be a face on the main roster.

Fans who attended an NXT live event in Tampa this week were surprised to see what the main event of the show was. Samoa Joe was one of the contestants, which comes as no surprise because he is a former world heavyweight champion. His opponent, however, was someone that normally would not be working in such a high profile spot on the card. Tye Dillinger got the call because they needed someone to work with Joe.

In an expected move, Samoa Joe has challenged Finn Balor for the NXT Heavyweight Championship. Balor accepted the challenge, but WWE opted to not grant that to Joe. Instead, they want to give him a little more momentum by having him win a battle royal next week to earn the shot. A couple of other contenders are expected to be added to the match, but the belief is that Joe is almost a lock to win.

However, the producers of the video game have rectified that situation by creating a downloadable version of his character. The former world heavyweight champion is one of five characters that will be included in the Future Stars Pack, which is available for $7.99.

When it was revealed earlier that Samoa Joe had impressed WWE so much that they offered him a full time contract, the internet wrestling community began to wonder if that meant that he was going to be placed on the main roster immediately. Now that the former world heavyweight champion has been signed to a developmental deal, he was able to impress management is a short period of time. The front office was so impressed with his work, the buzz he created and his merchandise sales that they decided to upgrade him to a full time deal instead.

Since the current heavyweight champion is set to make a permanent move to the main roster, management is going to need someone new to hold the NXT belt. The top candidate right now is Samoa Joe, especially with all of the injuries that have hampered the roster. The belief is that Joe will defend the championship against a couple of opponents over the following months before making a jump to the main roster himself.
