In order to sell the brutal beating from Kevin Owens and to hide the fact that he was overseas with the main roster, WWE kept Sami Zayn off of television. That ends next week, as the former heavyweight champion is scheduled to make his television return to NXT. As of right now, he is penciled in to cut a very powerful promo about losing the belt to his former best friend. The character will also come up with a way to get a rematch for the title.

Since he is viewed as a really hard worker and a very likable coworker, there are many within WWE that are pushing management to move the date of the Sami Zayn main roster debut up a couple of months. Right now, the current plan is for him to remain down in NXT for much of 2015. Top officials feel that he is quite the asset in that role, but there are those that feel that he needs to be rewarded by being allowed to work on mainstream television.

When he dropped the NXT Heavyweight Championship to Sami Zayn, many were under the impression that Adrian Neville was going to be immediately called up to the main roster in WWE. However, that does not appear to be the case, as the former champion is scheduled for the weekly developmental television show until at least the middle of January. That has led to speculations that he could be called up in time to be one of the Royal Rumble participants.
