NXT touring

Being an independent wrestling promotion is going to get a lot harder come May. That is when WWE is tentatively planning on having the stars of NXT begin touring the country. Unlike the main roster, the developmental wrestlers would be performer is smaller venues in towns that might not normally get the big name stars coming through. Guys like Kevin Owens, Finn Balor, Hideo Itami, Sami Zayn and Adrian Neville are hard to compete against.

In a sign of just how valuable he has become to WWE, Sami Zayn has been chosen to be the first NXT action figure that Mattel produces. The former heavyweight champion is not a household name yet with the mainstream fans, but he has grown to become quite the marketing asset to the company. Management usually sends Zayn overseas to do promotional work, and he is often brought along to work various live events in other countries.

Over the next couple of days, Sami Zayn is going to be collecting a good amount of frequent flyer miles. He has already been sent to Abu Dhabi to do some promotional work for upcoming WWE live events. He will then head back to the United States in time to work the big NXT event on Wednesday, where Zayn will defend the heavyweight championship against Kevin Owens. Immediately afterwards, Zayn heads back overseas to work a tour.

Sami Zayn in NXT

Those that have been waiting to see Sami Zayn be called up to the main roster in WWE, are possibly in for a bit of a disappointment. Reports have surfaced that management is planning a long title feud between he and Kevin Owens, one that is expected to stretch out over several months. If that were the case, then Zayn would be stuck down in NXT for much of 2015. Others in the developmental program might skip ahead of him in line for a promotion.

Adrian Neville taking time off

There is a very good chance that NXT fans will not be seeing Adrian Neville around for a while. Management utilized him to help give an immediate boost to Kevin Owens this week by having the former heavyweight champion be stretchered out of the arena after a brutally vicious post match assault. The idea is to build up Owens as quickly as possible, so that Sami Zayn can have an immediate challenger. Neville is still waiting for a promotion.
