Going into the Elimination Chamber, Sheamus was initially penciled in as the person that was scheduled to walk out of the enormous steel cage structure with the Intercontinental Championship in his hand. However, as a sign that WWE still continues to change up plans on a frequent basis, management opted to put the belt on Ryback for whatever reasons. A lot of people backstage have been impressed with the Big Guy as of late.

While it appeared that he was simply putting on a good performance last night, it turns out that Ryback was actually injured at Payback and was not just doing a great job of selling. Reports have surfaced that his ribs were severely damaged last night, and some are saying that it occurred when Bray Wyatt did a senton splash from the ropes to the arena floor. Medical personnel checked on the Big Guy backstage immediately after his match.

For a couple of weeks now, Bray Wyatt has been cutting some vague promos that have left fans wondering who his next mystery opponent is going to be. As of right now, the plan in WWE is to have him working a match against Ryback at Extreme Rules. That is the reason why the promo was aired immediately before the Big Guy wrestled Adam Rose. The belief is that management is feeding Wyatt an opponent to get his heat back.

When word broke out that he was going to be doing a podcast interview with Chris Jericho, many were under the impression that Ryback was going to speak out on the allegations thrown at him by CM Punk. However, it appears that WWE advised him to scale back on the verbal assault. The Big Guy addressed the issues, but stated that he no longer takes it personal. He even wished Punk the best in his new pursuit to become a star in UFC.
