In a very interesting move, ROH has decided to give Matt Jackson a chance at their world heavyweight championship on Saturday night at a live event in Duluth, Georgia. Jackson will be challenge Jay Lethal for the title that night. Matt normally works tag team matches with his brother, but Ring of Honor management wants to see how well he can do as a singles competitor, much like what the NWA did with Ricky Morton and Ric Flair.

Now that WWE has announced that Sting will be inducted into the hall of fame at Wrestlemania this year, the speculation will now begin as to who will get to induct the former world heavyweight champion. Right now, Ric Flair is the hot candidate, as the two of them have a genuine and shared respect for one another. Plus, Flair is one of the best talkers in the business, so it would make for an entertaining segment and heartwarming moment.

A longstanding rumor was confirmed by Ric Flair during his latest podcast interview show. He reiterated that he refused to drop the WCW World Heavyweight Championship to Lex Luger, who had chased Flair and the belt for a very long time. The reason why the Nature Boy refused to do that was because he had promised the title to Sting. This caused a major conflict with promoter Jim Herd and caused Flair to leave for WWE.

He also revealed that his doctors are recommending that he gets surgery to repair the neck soon.

During his latest podcast interview, Ric Flair might have accidentally ruined things for his daughter at Wrestlemania. The former world heavyweight champion revealed that WWE has Charlotte penciled in to hold the Divas Championship all the way until the big pay per view. Flair also added that her opponent was either going to be Bayley or Sasha Banks, both of whom should be receiving pushes soon.

Nick Bockwinkel passes away

Some sad news to report. Nick Bockwinkel has passed away. The former world heavyweight champion died at the age of 80. Not a lot of details have been released in regards to his death. Bockwinkel is vastly underrated. At one point in time, he was to the AWA what Ric Flair was to the NWA and Hulk Hogan was to WWE. Additional details on his death should be available later in the week.

Despite being one of the best of all time and knowing so much about the industry, the former world heavyweight champion has really only trained one person to become a full time wrestler. That special distinction belongs to Stan Lane, who found his greatest fame during the 1980s as one half of the legendary Midnight Express tag team with Bobby Eaton.
