Perro Aguayo memorial

A memorial was held in honor of Perro Aguayo this week. He passed away after an accident in the ring during a match. Konnan, who was the first person to check on Aguayo after the incident, was there in person. Rey Mysterio, however, was not. The belief is that he felt that his presence would be a distraction and might actually upset a couple of people who blame him for the death. Mysterio is currently heading overseas for wrestling show.

Lucha Underground ending

On April 19, Lucha Underground is taping a very special two hour episode. It will bring closure to all of their current story lines, and there should be plenty of surprises that evening. The general feeling right now is that this could be the very final episode that the promotion runs. They have lost millions of dollars over the past year. If Rey Mysterio and Alberto Del Rio are not able to sell the network on another season, then this is the end of the road.

Lucha Underground loses money

There are rumors floating around right now that Lucha Underground has lost nearly $20 million thus far. That number is a bit exaggerated. While the promotion will not reveal the number, they are not denying that money was lost this year. Some major changes are being planned in the hopes of being able to continue as a business. Their best bet is if Rey Mysterio and Alberto Del Rio can draw in more of the mainstream fans.

WWE avoiding Aguayo

Shortly after Perro Aguayo died in a tragic in ring accident, a lot of eyes turned to WWE to see if the company would do a tribute for the fallen performer on Monday Night Raw. In the end, the company opted against it. One of the reasons for that is because they wanted to avoid bringing light to the fact that Rey Mysterio, who was involved in that unfortunate match, is no longer with the company. They did his release as quietly as possible.
