TNA iMPACT! Results - May 8, 2008

Kurt Angle and Scott Steiner grudgingly team up against Samoa Joe and Kevin Nash. The TNA Knockouts battle it out to see who gets immunity from getting their head shaved. Two more teams are announced for the Deuces Wild tournament.

First Team Announced

Good segment to start the show. Jim Cornette calls down all 8 wrestlers who will be in the Deuces Wild tag team tournament.

The first team announced is Sting and James Storm. Great line by James Storm when he said that didn't grow up as a Sting fan because his mother wouldn't let him play with makeup.

That causes Sting and James Storm to brawl. Jim Cornette announces that the two will have a hardcore match later on in the night.

Jimmy Rave vs Shark Boy vs Consequences Creed vs Curry Man vs Johnny Devine vs Petey Williams

The fact that they announced that this match was a non title match automatically eliminated Petey Williams from winning.

If there's one thing that TNA can do well, it's that they can throw these X division guys into a match and produce highlight after highlight. If this match was a bit longer, it would have been pay per view quality. Then again, they kept it short on purpose to tease you into buying the pay per view.

Giving Jimmy Rave the win was a clever move as well. He's the least likely participant to win the match. He needed this win more than anyone else.

Winner: Jimmy Rave

Backstage Brawl

Christian Cage, Rhino, and Team 3D started off the backstage segment with an argument. You should have known right off the bat that it was going to be entertaining since Christian Cage and Brother Ray were involved.

Segment would have been fine had it ended there, but TNA decided to give us a pretty wild brawl between the two teams.

LAX came out and attacked all four guys. They then reminded everyone that they were in the tournament as well. Awesome Border Toss from Hernandez to Christian Cage into a wall.

Roxxi Laveaux vs Velvet Sky vs Angelina Love vs Christy Hemme vs Gail Kim vs Salinas vs ODB vs Traci Brooks vs Jackie Moore

Personally, I'm not a big fan of this match because it means that we might see the match at Sacrifice ending with no one getting their head shaved. Granted, I'm not hoping to see any of the Knockouts being bald, but if TNA is going to promote this type of match, then there shouldn't be a loophole.

The match itself was entertaining as they all pulled off their various spots in the match really well.

Winner: Gail Kim

No Disqualification Match
Sting vs James Storm

Good match that would be pay per view quality if it was longer. They brawled throughout the crowd, and there was good use of weapons in the ring. These two guys really should feud after Sacrifice. It would really help James Storm's career out.

Winner: Sting

Matt Morgan vs Kip James

Before the match, Jim Cornette announced that Kip James and Matt Morgan would be teaming up at Sacrifice on Sunday. Not really all that excited about that. Still can't help but think that TNA would have been better off putting Kip James and BG James together in a tag team match and allowing them to advance to the 2nd or 3rd round.

Match itself was short, which probably wasn't a bad thing. Nothing fancy. Matt Morgan needs someone better in the ring with him to shine.

Winner: Matt Morgan

Kurt Angle & Scott Steiner vs Samoa Joe & Kevin Nash

The problem with doing a match like is that everyone knows that Kevin Nash was going to be taking the loss since he's the only one that isn't involved in the main event title match at Sacrifice.

Some pretty decent spots. Kurt Angle drops Samoa Joe with the Angle Slam. He does the same to Kevin Nash, but Scott Steiner sneaks in for the pin. Not that it really matters, but the two heels argue over the pinfall, which leads to an Angle Slam and Angle Lock.

Winners: Kurt Angle & Scott Steiner

  Final Analysis Ratings
Show started off really strong. It even stayed strong during the Sting/Storm match. However, the final two segments weren't able to really keep up with the pace. Still a good way to promote the Sacrifice pay per view, though. 8/10
