Wedding Announcement
Say what you want about Vickie Guerrero, but she's the top heel in the company right now. No one is getting more heat from the audience than she is.
The announcement of an upcoming wedding between Edge and Vickie Guerrero was the next logical step in this storyline. Normally, I hate wedding storylines in wrestling, but thanks to Vickie Guerrero's heat, I need to see where this is going.
Batista comes out and announces himself as the new challenger for the title. Edge declares that Batista will not get another title shot if he loses at Night of Champions. Not really a big deal since Batista is rumored to be heading over to Monday Night Raw in a few weeks. |

Belfast Brawl
Finlay vs Chuck Palumbo
This was a smart idea. Making this into a Belfast Brawl instead of a regular match makes it that much more interesting. Now, if only the writers can come up with an actual storyline for these two guys, we'd be set with a very good midcard feud.
Winner: Finlay |

Mark Henry Challenges Big Show
Nice move having the Big Show coming out to talk. It keeps him involved with the program without actually have to wrestle. It was also a nice move bringing out Mark Henry because that gives him some continuity. The storyline between these two wasn't all that strong to begin with, but it at least has some momentum now. |

Handicap Match
Deuce & Domino vs Great Khali
Nice to see the Great Khali back, but this wasn't the right way of doing it. First of all, it looks like they may try him out as a babyface thanks to his popularity overseas. That's fine, but he's not going to gain momentum by beating Deuce & Domino. Had he attacked Edge or someone else that the audience hates, then he could have gained some momentum.
Also, I absolutely hate the fact that they buried a legitimate tag team by having them lose to the Great Khali cleanly.
Winner: Great Khali |

Cousin Sal vs Santino Marella
As a wrestling fan, this is a waste of a segment. I understand that WWE is hoping for some extra publicity in doing this, but as a wrestling fan, it does nothing for me.
I have nothing against Cousin Sal, but he's not big enough of a star to get me interested in this. Had it been Jimmy Kimmel wrestling, I would have definitely looked forward to it.
Another reason why I didn't like this segment was that it buried Santino Marella for no reason. Steve Austin said that Santino Marella won't be taken seriously as a wrestler, and it looks like WWE is perfectly fine with that.

#1 Contenders Match
Natalya vs Victoria vs Layla vs Maryse vs Kelly vs Michelle vs Cherry
Basically, the divas are battling it out to grab a golden star from the top of a pole. Winner gets a shot at the newly created women's championship. Wasn't too bad of a match for what it is.
Winner: Natalya Neidhart |

Vladimir Kozlov vs Jimmy Wang Yang
Well, at least Vladimir Kozlov is moving up the ladder. Last week, he defeated Shannon Moore. This week, he beats his tag team partner. He now is a little bit more interesting. Not a lot, though.
I'm going to be really disappointed if Vladimir Kozlov ends up beating both Shannon Moore and Jimmy Wang Yang in a handicap match next week.
Winner: Vladimir Kozlov |

Batista, Nunzio, Colin Delaney, Funaki vs Edge, Chavo Guerrero, Curt Hawkins, Zack Ryder
Very clever booking here. Batista needs to win this match in order to get himself a shot at the World Heavyweight Championship. The fact that he has to do it with wrestlers who are deemed to be low level guys adds even more heat to Vickie Guerrero and Edge.
Of course, Batista still manages to pick up the victory.
Winners: Batista, Nunzio, Colin Delaney, Funaki |

Smackdown was definitely carried by the main storyline. It received a nice little boost this week from Finlay and Chuck Palumbo. The writers really need to work on the other aspects of the show. |
