Interrupting Batista
Batista has a match against Shawn Michaels on Sunday. Since Shawn Michaels can't be on Smackdown this week, they decided to keep Batista busy by having Curt Hawkins, Zack Ryder, and Vickie Guerrero providing conflict.
The only cool thing about this segment was that Curt Hawkins had extended mic time. Always wanted to see what he can do on the mic. |

Matt Hardy vs Elijah Burke
Pretty good match between these two. Since Matt Hardy was going to win anyways, they should have just promoted it as a US title shot. That would have added more credibility to Matt Hardy as champion. Plus, it would have given Elijah Burke some momentum as well.
Winner: Matt Hardy |

Chuck Palumbo vs Finlay
Pretty decent match, but there just wasn't any heat behind it. It's hard to look past the fact that both of these guys have been completely ignored by the writers over the last couple of months.

CM Punk vs John Morrison
Good match between these, but nowadays you can expect that since they have so much chemistry together. This was a bit of a weak effort in promoting the Singapore Cane match, though.

Big Show & Batista vs Curt Hawkins & Zack Ryder
Big Show was Batista's mystery partner. That made absolutely no sense. There's not a "friendship" between the two characters. Plus, Big Show isn't exactly involved in a rivalry with La Familia. It felt way too random.
Match was good. As you would expect, Batista and the Big Show dominated since they were the ones that are actually booked for a pay per view match.
This was just a time filler, and it was painfully obvious.
Winners: Big Show & Batista |

MVP vs Jamie Noble
This matchup should have been done when MVP was the US champion. Jamie Noble would have provided him with a fresh challenger while Matt Hardy was injured.
Anyways, good match. Just wished that WWE had given us a reason to care about the match since neither guy is actually being used in a storyline right now.

Vladimir Kozlov vs Shannon Moore
This is a step up for Vladimir Kozlov. He hasn't actually had a chance to face someone as established as Shannon Moore is. His in-ring performance is still lame even though he's going up against a very good performer in Shannon Moore. Maybe he'll get to work with Jimmy Wang Yang soon?

Maryse vs Michelle McCool
Maryse still looks awkward with Deuce & Domino. Guess it's just because Cherry was such a perfect character fit with those guys. Kind of sad that they've been relegated to being Maryse' valet, though.
This match was basically to promote two things. It advanced the storyline between Maryse and Cherry. Plus, it promoted the fact that Michelle McCool is a submission "specialist" now.
Winner: Michelle McCool |

Undertaker Confronts Edge
It was obvious that the writing team spent all of their time this week working on the final segment of the show. It was easily the best segment of the night. It wasn't something that was thrown together in 30 seconds like everything else on the show was.
Edge does a tremendous job of acting again. Since the Undertaker's character limits his acting range, it was up to Edge to sell the story. He does the "scared heel" routine really well.
Also, the use of La Familia in this segment was good as well. It allowed Undertaker to take out his aggression without actually making Edge look weak. That's one of the reasons why stables are useful. |

The final segment was great. Everything else was bland. Smackdown was basically just a promotion for the TLC match at the pay per view. Everything else was just to kill time. |
