The alliance between Edge and Chavo Guerrero strengthens as they team up against CM Punk and Rey Mysterio.

Friends & Family The main event was basically done to set up an alliance between Chavo Guerrero, Vickie Guerrero, and Edge. The match itself was pretty fun to watch. Plus, it was nice seeing CM Punk teaming up with Rey Mysterio. Since a lot of fans still aren't watching ECW, this type of exposure helps him out a lot. We'll probably be seeing CM Punk and Rey Mysterio teaming up more often in the future as they continue their feuds with Edge and Chavo Guerrero. To Be The Man Ric Flair has always said that to be in the man, you have to beat the man. Well, MVP came pretty close to beating Ric Flair on the microphone. That's incredible because Ric Flair is still one of the best talkers in the business. For MVP to be able to keep up with (and at times, do better than) Ric Flair says a lot about how bright his future is. The match between the two at the Royal Rumble should be fun to watch because of the mic work that both guys have done. Plus, Ric Flair still has something left in the tank. He should be able to work with MVP to produce a solid match at the pay per view.

Closing Thoughts

The main event and the awesome interview segment between MVP & Ric Flair made this episode of Smackdown good. Otherwise, you basically just have a bunch of matches and segment that were killing time.

Batista beat Mark Henry

Typical battle between these two big guys. They're basically just killing time because neither guy is involved in a feud at the moment. Decent match.

Great Khali beat Finlay

Average match as Finlay can only do so much with the big guy. Kind of surprising to see the Great Khali picking up a win since he's been on a losing streak.

Another match done to fill time. The match was basically done just so they can do a backstage segment afterwards involving Chuck Palumbo.

Deuce & Domino have been relegated to being the jobbers in the tag team division. The match was decent, but it felt meaningless, which it was.

MVP & Ric Flair

Tremendous interview here between the two to set up their match at the Royal Rumble. MVP really stepped up his mic game to match Ric Flair here.

Fun match despite the disqualification ending. This match was basically done to set up an eventual alliance between Chavo Guerrero, Vickie Guerrero & Edge.

Undertaker & Big Daddy V

It started with an interview segment featuring the Undertaker, and it ended with Big Daddy V attacking him. This sets up an eventual feud between the two.

The tag team division is being forgotten again. Beating Deuce & Domino doesn't mean as much now a days since they hardly ever win matches themselves.
