TNA Final Resolution 2008 Results
Final Resolution brought a lot of answers, but at the same time, it also brought a lot of new questions.

LAX beat Jimmy Rave & Lance Hoyt
- Hernandez hits Jimmy Rave with a Border Toss off of the top ropes.
- WINNER: LAX
- Mystery LAX member enters the ring.
- Christy Hemme does a low blow to the Mystery LAX member, but it does nothing.
- Mystery LAX member reveals her identity to be Shelly Martinez (formerly Ariel in ECW).
- Shelly Martinez strips out of the baggy clothes much to the delight of the audience.
THOUGHTS: Good match to start the show. LAX constantly provides big exciting spots in their matches. Also great to finally see Shelly Martinez being revealed. With her addition, pushing LAX should be a bit easier.
Kaz vs Black Reign
- Black Reign hits Kaz with a Pedigree.
- Kaz blocks a reverse DDT attempt by Black Reign and hits his own reverse DDT.
- WINNER: Kaz
- Kaz leaves the ring with Black Reign's pet rat Misty.
THOUGHTS: The match itself was a lot better than expected thanks to Kaz's work. Hopefully, the rat thing means that we've seen the last of this feud and the last of the Black Reign character. If this feud is continued, then it should be done with Dustin Rhodes instead of Black Reign. |
TNA Women's Championship
Gail Kim vs Awesome Kong
- The match was a No Disqualification match.
- Gail Kim and Awesome Kong brawl through the arena.
- Awesome Kong powerbombs the referee.
- Awesome Kong tries to powerbomb another referee, but Gail Kim rolls her up from behind and gets the win.
- WINNER: Gail Kim
THOUGHTS: This match lived up to expectations and delivered. The audience was going crazy for much of the match. A lot of people wanted to see Awesome Kong winning the title here, but it looks like TNA wants to build up Gail Kim a bit more as the champion. Plus, the audience has really started to rally behind Awesome Kong as a challenger. TNA has struck gold with the women's division.
Judas Mesias vs Abyss
- Abyss hits the Black Hole Slam, but James Mitchell distracts the referee.
- Judas Mesias sprays a red mist into Abyss' face.
- Judas Mesias drops Abyss' face into a steel cage wrapped in barbed wire.
- WINNER: Judas Mesias
- James Mitchell gives Abyss one more chance to confess, but he refuses.
- James Mitchell and Judas Mesias attempt to burn Abyss, but security stops them.
THOUGHTS: Good match with some nice hardcore spots. This feud would really be a drag if not for the tremendous mic work from James Mitchell and the good ring work from Abyss. Expect to see these two guys in a rematch at Against All Odds in February.
Booker T & Sharmell vs Robert Roode & Ms Brooks
- Ms Brooks gets knocked into Robert Roode, who falls off the ring apron.
- Sharmell rolls up Ms Brooks.
- WINNER: Booker T & Sharmell
- Robert Roode yells at Ms Brooks, so she slaps him.
- Robert Roode grows angry, so Earl Hebner tries to stop him. Robert Roode pushes him off.
- Sharmell gets into the ring to try to stop Robert Roode.
- Robert Roode hits Sharmell, thinking that it was Earl Hebner.
- Booker T runs into the ring, and Robert Roode flees.
THOUGHTS: Solid match. Everyone was focused on the ending, though, to see if Robert Roode and Ms Brooks would finally split. They haven't yet, but it's at least getting closer to the conclusion. The split needs to happen soon before the audience completely loses interest. It also looks like the feud between Booker T and Robert Roode will be continuing.
Ultimate X Match
Team 3D & Johnny Devine vs Motor City Machine Guns & Jay Lethal
- Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin both sell the wrist injuries they suffered at TNA iMPACT! on Thursday night when they were unable to climb the ropes.
- Brother Devon climbs a ladder to grab the belt. Brother Ray removes the belt as the referee recovers to see it.
- WINNER: Team 3D & Johnny Devine
THOUGHTS: Entertaining match. Johnny Devine takes a beating. Creative use of the ladder to cover up the fact that Team 3D wasn't going to be climbing the ropes. Now that Johnny Devine has the title, he needs to immediately be put into a feud with Jay Lethal. Team 3D and the Motor City Machine Guns both need to be thrown into a 3 way feud for the TNA World Tag Team Championship.
TNA World Tag Team Championship
AJ Styles & Tomko vs Kevin Nash & Samoa Joe
- Some solid in-ring action to start the match, including from Kevin Nash.
- Samoa Joe attempts to tag in Kevin Nash again.
- Kevin Nash pulls his hand back and flips off Samoa Joe.
- Kevin Nash walks away from the ring.
- Samoa Joe hits the Muscle Buster on AJ Styles, but Tomko makes the save.
- The audience is cheering wildly for Tomko for saving the pin.
- Double team move from AJ Styles & Tomko.
- WINNER: AJ Styles & Tomko
THOUGHTS: When Kevin Nash left Samoa Joe in the ring, everyone was worried about a title change. Thanksfully, though, TNA decided not to go with the predictable route, so the heels kept the belt. Good match.
TNA World Heavyweight Championship
Kurt Angle vs Christian Cage
- Kurt Angle nails a beautiful moonsault on Christian Cage.
- Christian Cage hits the Unprettier, but Kurt Angle kicks out of the pin attempt.
- AJ Styles hits the ring and nails Christian Cage in the back.
- WINNER: Kurt Angle
THOUGHTS: The match itself was excellent. This was a horrible choice for TNA. AJ Styles should be kept with Christian Cage for a few more months as allies to build up their big time feud later on this year. Unless, they got something brilliant planned, this storyline ended as a bust. |
