Stevie Richards on the Mic
Nice move here putting Stevie Richards on the mic to start the show. It allows him to show some personality; something that his character does not get to do all that often. |

Extreme Rules Match
Mike Knox vs Tommy Dreamer
Fun match. ECW really needs to use these hardcore matches more often to mask some of the lower level guys and their inability to connect with the audience. As expected, Tommy Dreamer does most of the work here to make Mike Knox look good.
Winner: Mike Knox |

Kelly Kelly Expose
Another fun segment here even though it is a bit repetitious. Kelly does her little dance tease. Layle comes out to interrupt and does a little dance tease of her own. The two get into a catfight before the officials split them up. |

Kofi Kingston vs Matt Striker
Smart move not having Kofi Kingston beating Shelton Benjamin again. That would severely ruin the momentum of this program. Matt Striker is a notch above a random jobber, so this was a good matchup. Shelton Benjamin, who was doing commentary, jumps Kofi Kingston after the match.

Colin Delaney vs Armando Estrada
Armando Estrada shocks the heck out of everyone with his well sculpted physique to start. Solid match. Colin Delaney gets the win (and a contract) with a sunset flip on the general manager.
After the match, Colin Delaney runs around and slaps hands with the audience. After a quick interiew with Tazz, he runs around some more.
This is one of those things that was built up well, but the execution lacked excitement.

Kane & CM Punk vs Chavo Guerrero & Bam Neely
Predictable match here. CM Punk was simply added to this match to give him something to do while the writers are stalling with his push. Nice to see Bam Neely in the ring with actual wrestling gear on. Predictable finish has CM Punk pinning Chavo Guerrero after the Go 2 Sleep.
Winners: Kane & CM Punk |

For the record, I didn't give every match and segment a 7/10 simply because I was being lazy. There wasn't a bad segment on the show. Nor was there a great segment on the show.
If you're wondering why the overall rating for the show was a 6/10, I dropped one point off of the rating because this was supposed to be the 100th edition of the show.
It should have been a lot more special. Instead, we basically just got a handful of highlights throw in before commercial breaks. |
