Practice Makes Perfect
The main event triple threat match between CM Punk, Shelton Benjamin, and Elijah Burke had potential to be a match of the year candidate.
When you consider that these guys are three of the most talented in-ring performers in the entire company, it's not hard to see how people were expecting a great match.
The match was filled with plenty of high spots. Exciting stuff like Shelton Benjamin leaping from the canvas to the top of the rope to give Elijah Burke an overhead suplex. Shelton Benjamin also provided another entertaining spot when he leaped from inside of the ring to the arena floor to give CM Punk a power bomb.
The excitement was there. What kept the match from being great, though, was the fact that there were several inexplicable botches.
For some reason, there was a lot of confusion when Elijah Burke and CM Punk were in the ring together. That's odd considering that these two guys have had plenty of experience working together.
WWE should let these guys work together on house shows, and then have them do the match again on a pay per view.
Doing that would give ECW a strong candidate for Match of the Year. |
