Long known backstage as someone with a short fuse, Randy Orton was said to be irate with the fans at Royal Rumble 2014 because he feels that they interrupted his performance against John Cena by openly rooting for Daniel Bryan. Orton does have a history of being upset with audiences.
While many people are already aware that Dolph Ziggler is being punished by WWE over the last several months, not many are aware as to the exact reason why. Rumor is that he has backstage heat with Randy Orton over comments he made during an interview around the time of Summerslam.
The leading candidate to win the Royal Rumble right now is Batista. WWE is said to want to capitalize on the momentum of his return by throwing him immediately into the main event scene of Wrestlemania 30. A title match against Randy Orton has been heavily discussed backstage.
"I don't know about the 'face' of the company. That's kind of being used right now. I'd like to come up with something a little more fresh. You know Randy Orton is doing that whole 'face' of the company thing. I think I'm better than him so if we can get a one upper situation, that's---maybe the 'backbone' of the company. Maybe the 'balls' of the company. Something cool like that, you know? I don't know about the 'face' of the company. Maybe the "man" of the company. That sounds about right."
"Being a bad guy is just more fun. Otherwise you worry too much about what the fans think of you. It's a worry I don't like to have. I'd rather be myself and explore different ways I can make people feel uneasy even just by walking by and glaring at them."
While the two championships are expected to be combined tonight at TLC, the feud between John Cena and Randy Orton is expected to keep going, as the two of them are being advertised for matches late into January.
