WWE Breaking Point

Let's take a look at the upcoming WWE Breaking Point pay per view that is taking place this weekend.

WWE Breaking Point

WWE will be debuting the Breaking Point pay per view this upcoming Sunday. It will be the show where the three top matches are going to be submission based matches.

The following matches are scheduled for WWE Breaking Point.

  • Great Khali vs Kane
  • Miz vs Kofi Kingston
  • Christian vs William Regal
  • MVP & Mark Henry vs Chris Jericho & Big Show
  • Degeneration X vs Legacy
  • Randy Orton vs John Cena
  • Undertaker vs CM Punk

Singapore Cane Match
Great Khali vs Kane

To be honest, not too many people are looking forward to this match. The company wisely decided to add the Singapore Cane gimmick to the match in hopes of making it somewhat interesting. Not going to work, though.

If it was up to me, I'd have this match end in a brutal no contest ending. That way, it elevates both guys.

United States Heavyweight Championship
Miz vs Kofi Kingston

Match was added at the last minute, so there's very little to no hype for the match. Kind of interesting that they removed the match between John Morrison and Dolph Ziggler in favor of this match.

Miz has been losing momentum since his feud with John Cena ended. Time to give it back to him by putting the US title around his waist.

ECW Heavyweight Championship
Christian vs William Regal

In order to extend the program, WWE had Christian defeat William Regal in a matter of seconds at the last pay per view. You can rest assured that we won't be seeing that again this time. We'll get an actual match.

I think it would be best for the ECW title to remain wit Christian. Then, have him go through a gauntlet of challengers in Ezekiel Jackson, Vladimir Kozlov, and then William Regal again.

Unified Tag Team Championship
Chris Jericho & Big Show vs MVP & Mark Henry

WWE has done a solid job of building up this match and building up MVP & Mark Henry as a tag team. Should be a good match, especially if Chris Jericho carries the match.

Unless WWE has another babyface tag team to challenge the champions, then it might be time to do a quick title switch. Put the belts on MVP & Mark Henry and continue the program.

Submissions Count Anywhere
Degeneration X vs Legacy

When this feud first started, Cody Rhodes & Ted DiBiase were not credible opponents whatsoever. WWE has done a good job of giving them some credibility. The feud is working.

Cody Rhodes & Ted DiBiase need this win a lot more than Shawn Michaels & Triple H does.

WWE Heavyweight Championship Match
I Quit Match
Randy Orton vs John Cena

Since they've feuded for so long, it's growing more and more difficult for WWE to keep it interesting. Making a submission match works because it's difficult to envision John Cena tapping out.

If John Cena loses this thing, it's going to be thanks to interference or some other sort of screwjob ending. Now isn't the time to take the belt from Randy Orton.

World Heavyweight Championship
Submission Match
CM Punk vs Undertaker

WWE can go a very long way here with CM Punk. Even though he's gained quite a bit of momentum over the last few weeks, he still needs more credibility in the eyes of the internet wrestling community. Depending on how this match with the Undertaker is booked, he could have that credibility by the end of the night.

Rumor has it that WWE is planning on doing a title switch here. Personally, I think that would be an awful idea. CM Punk is better as a heel champion than he is as a heel challenger to the Undertaker.

Closing Thoughts

The main event matches should all be entertaining. It's going to be up to the veterans (Kane, Chris Jericho, William Regal, Christian) to make the rest of the show a good one.
