Who Will Induct Ric Flair?
On Monday Night Raw this week, Shawn Michaels announced that "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame at Wrestlemania 24 this year. After over 30 years in the business, Ric Flair has more than earned his spot.
The big question now, though, is who will receive the honor of inducting Ric Flair into his rightful place among the greats of professional wrestling.
Below are the top ten choices to induct Ric Flair. |
| |
|
|
WWE |
| |
|
|
| 10 |
Sting
Well before Sting defeated Ric Flair to win his first NWA World Heavyweight Championship, the two engaged in a classic 45 minute match at the first Clash of the Champions event. It was that match that turned Sting from a young wrestler with loads of potential into a future Hall of Famer himself.
Sting has turned down WWE's offer about a million times before, but if there's anything that can convince him to make an appearance, it'd be the honor of inducting Ric Flair. |
 |
| 9 |
Barry Windham
They weren't the first ones to do 60 and 90 minute matches, but it sure felt like Ric Flair and Barry Windham invented those matches. For a period of time there, Ric Flair and Barry Windham would have classic hour long matches. Sometimes, they would do it several times in a week.
As a protege of Ric Flair, it would just feel right for Barry Windham to induct the Nature Boy. |
 |
| 8 |
Ricky Steamboat
Ric Flair has had more classic feuds than any other wrestler in the history of the business. One of his greatest feuds was against Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat. These two engaged in some of the best matches wrestling fans have ever witnessed.
It'd be great if Ricky Steamboat could induct Ric Flair, but we'd much rather see him being inducted himself this year. |
 |
| 7 |
Harley Race
Ric Flair's character has always claimed that he "invented being the man". Well, Harley Race could also make that claim as well. He was the man before Ric Flair took over the spot.
He passed the torch to Ric Flair as the NWA World Heavyweight Champion. Having him induct Ric Flair into the WWE Hall of Fame would be fitting. |
 |
| 6 |
Terry Funk
The feud between Ric Flair and Terry Funk in the NWA will forever be remembered as one of the Natury Boy's best feud ever. Both men brought out the best in one another during that feud. They actually made people believe that the two guys hated one another.
It would definitely be ironic if Terry Funk were to be the one to induct Ric Flair. It'd almost feel exactly like how their feud started in the NWA. |
 |
| 5 |
Randy Savage
When Ric Flair and Randy Savage feuded in WWE, it was a classic. They then carried their feud on to WCW, which was also a classic. You could probably have these guys feuding again at an independent wrestling show in front of 15 people, and it'd probably be a classic as well.
It's almost impossible to even imagine Randy Savage being invited to a WWE event, but it would be nice to see him getting the honors. |
 |
| 4 |
Triple H
When Triple H gushes over Ric Flair and talks about how much of a role model the Nature Boy is to him, he's not just doing it in character. It's the honest truth.
As big of a star as Triple H has become, he's still the biggest "Ric Flair mark" in the world. He'd be the first one to admit that, too. |
 |
| 3 |
Dusty Rhodes
If you grew up watching wrestling during the 1980s like we did, then you obviously followed the feud between Ric Flair and Dusty Rhodes. It's one of the most legendary feuds in wrestling history.
In fact, the feud between the Nature Boy and the American Dream was so great that it deserves to be inducted into the Hall of Fame as an entity of its own. |
 |
| 2 |
Roddy Piper
The friendship between Ric Flair and Roddy Piper started decades ago. These two guys went up and down the road together. They tore down the house at arenas across the countries, and then they closed the bars in the same towns.
Roddy Piper was once given the honor of being Ric Flair's best man at his wedding. It would be fitting for him to be Ric Flair's best man at the Hall of Fame as well. |
 |
1
|
Arn Anderson
For years, Arn Anderson was Ric Flair's right hand man. He was as synonymous to the Four Horsemen as Ric Flair was. In real life, he was just as close to Ric Flair as their characters on television was.
It's hard to imagine anyone else as a better choice to induct Ric Flair. The speech that Arn Anderson could give would easily be the greatest speech that the WWE Hall of Fame has ever seen. |
