TNA Genesis Preview

by Jack Windham
January 16, 2010

The term "genesis" is used to describe the beginning of something. The name is quite appropriate for a TNA pay per view since the company recently underwent a new beginning.

TNA Genesis

On January 17, 2010, TNA will be holding their annual Genesis pay per view. The event is scheduled to take place from the TNA iMPACT! Zone in Orlando, Florida.

The following matches have been scheduled.

  • Amazing Red vs ???
  • Doug Williams & Brutus Magnus vs Hernandez & Matt Morgan
  • ODB vs Tara
  • Sean Morley vs Christopher Daniels
  • Desmond Wolfe vs D'Angelo Dinero
  • Bobby Lashley vs Abyss
  • James Storm & Robert Roode vs Scott Hall & Kevin Nash
  • AJ Styles vs Kurt Angle

Match Preview

Lots of interesting new matchups for Genesis. Let's take a look at them.

  • Amazing Red vs ???
Amazing Red is going to be facing a mystery opponent. Rumor mills are saying that it will be either Shannon Moore, Jeff Hardy, or Sean Waltman. Amazing Red is an extremely talented in-ring performer, but the new regime might not have faith in his ability to draw. With that in mind, don't be shocked if the title changes hand.

  • Doug Williams & Brutus Magnus vs Hernandez & Matt Morgan
It still bothers me that management has stalled the pushes of Matt Morgan and Hernandez by putting together in a tag team. Doesn't even matter that the titles are on the line. Winning those belts will do nothing for Matt Morgan and Hernandez.

  • ODB vs Tara
This is the title rematch after ODB basically stole the belt back on an episode of iMPACT! ODB has done a superb job as the champion, so it would be best to keep the title on her and move her on to a feud with the returning Angelina Love.

  • Sean Morley vs Christopher Daniels
Sean Morley is an underrated performer. It's good to see him with a job again. However, there's not a lot of excitement behind him right now. Having him beat Christopher Daniels would be a step in the wrong direction.

  • Desmond Wolfe vs D'Angelo Dinero
Should be a very good match here. D'Angelo Dinero has an opportunity to step up and show that he can keep up with one of the best in-ring performers in the business. Hard to tell who is going to win since both guys are in the midsts of a push.

  • Bobby Lashley vs Abyss
With Bobby Lashley being a heel now, things have changed quite a bit. Abyss is a solid veteran performer to choose as an opponent. Considering that Bobby Lashley is still in line for a push (despite his MMA career), Abyss will more than likely do the job here.

  • James Storm & Robert Roode vs Scott Hall & Kevin Nash
This is an extremely high profile match for James Storm & Robert Roode. Though it's true that Scott Hall & Kevin Nash are well beyond their primes, they still have the name recognition to help out Beer Money. James Storm & Robert Roode need this win more than the Outsiders do.

  • AJ Styles vs Kurt Angle
This is guaranteed to be one of the best matches of 2010. Hard to imagine that Kurt Angle won't be getting another title shot again, but at the same time, it's much too soon to take the belt off of AJ Styles.

Closing Thoughts

If you love in-ring action, then buy this pay per view solely for the match between Kurt Angle and AJ Styles. It's going to be that good. The rest of the card is pretty solid as well.
