PREVIEW: TNA Bound For Glory

by Jack Windham
October 11, 2009

Let's take a look at the upcoming Bound For Glory pay per view that is set to take place on October 18, 2009 in Irvine, California.

Bound For Glory

Lots of major matches going on at the Bound For Glory pay per view. The following matches have already been confirmed.

  • Sting vs AJ Styles
  • Kurt Angle vs Matt Morgan
  • Mick Foley vs Abyss
  • Samoa Joe vs Bobby Lashley
  • Hernandez vs Kevin Nash vs Eric Young
  • British Invasion vs Beer Money vs Team 3D vs Main Event Mafia
  • Suicide vs D'Angelo Dinero vs Daniels vs Homicide
  • Sarita & Taylor Wilde vs Beautiful People

TNA Knockouts Tag Team Championship
Sarita & Taylor Wilde vs Beautiful People

Nothing against Madison Rayne, but this match does not feel nearly as big as it was supposed to have been had Angelina Love not been released from the company. Lacey Von Erich will probably end up helping them steal the tag titles away.

Ultimate X Match
TNA X Division Championship
Suicide vs D'Angelo Dinero vs Daniels vs Homicide

Suicide, Daniels, and Homicide have already proven that they can excel in matches like these. They're going to be great as usual. D'Angelo Dinero gets an opportunity to show if he can hang with these guys in this match. A good performance and a title win could do wonders for him.

Full Metal Mayhem
British Invasion vs Team 3D vs Beer Money vs Main Event Mafia

Four tag teams. Tables, ladders, and chairs. IWGP tag titles and TNA tag titles. Sounds like a lot of things to take in at once, but it should be a fun match. Should be non stop action. British Invasion needs this win more than the other three teams.

TNA Legends Championship
Kevin Nash vs Eric Young vs Hernandez

Smart move by TNA to pair Eric Young and Hernandez with Kevin Nash in a match on pay per view. It makes them appear even more credible. A shocking move here would be to put the title on Eric Young to give him more heat.

Submission Match
Samoa Joe vs Bobby Lashley

Another smart move by TNA. A submission match is perfect for these two guys. Samoa Joe has an arsenal of submission moves and Bobby Lashley's MMA background can be highlighted here. Can't imagine Bobby Lashley doing the job this soon, so Samoa Joe will be the one to pass out.

Monster's Ball
Mick Foley vs Abyss

This is one of the few dream matches that are left in professional wrestling. Mick Foley might be getting older, but he should still be able to put on a performance that will make Abyss seem like an even bigger star. The goal of this match should be to elevate Abyss.

Kurt Angle vs Matt Morgan

This could quite possibly be the biggest match of Matt Morgan's career. A great performance here and he becomes cemented in the main event scene. Not a better person to be in there against than Kurt Angle. Hopefully, TNA does the right thing and give Matt Morgan the surprise victory.

TNA World Heavyweight Championship
AJ Styles vs Sting

Just like Matt Morgan, AJ Styles is staring straight at the biggest match of his life. He's facing a wrestler that is widely beloved by wrestling fans from all over te planet. The storyline has been set for Sting to pass the torch. There should be no other finish than a clean pin for AJ Styles.

Closing Thoughts

A lot of people have forgotten that Bound For Glory is TNA's version of Wrestlemania. Apparently, the writers and the wrestlers have not forgotten because they've done a tremendous job of building anticipation for the show.
