Antonio Cesaro
The backstage gimmick for Antonio Cesaro is that WWE will try to get the fans to beg for a face turn. Management is still secretly passing out Cesaro Section signs to the fans at the live events. The hope is that fans will be clamoring heavily for him to leave Paul Heyman and finally become a good guy. If that works, then he can get his big match against Brock Lesnar in about a year.

The boring gimmick that Lance Storm received while working in WWE was actually a little jab at internet wrestling fans. Many viewed him as a guy that was just too boring to be a star. Batista
"I love Bray Wyatt. I love him. I love that whole gimmick, that whole Wyatt Family gimmick, but Bray I think he's gonna be a huge star. I get caught up in this guy, man. When I watch him he's one of those guys. He's another guy, I mean he doesn't look like a stud. He's not a statue of a man, but he is athletic as you can get, that kid can move man. He is agile, he is a stud man. That kid is as an athlete. He gets when he cuts a promo, you just get sucked in man. He is hypnotizing. When I talk to him like personal, on a personal level, he's one of those kids who's not afraid to learn, he has no ego. He's still learning and he knows he's still learning and he's not afraid to ask questions, and I think that's why he's going to be so good. 'Cause he's this good right now and he still wants to learn." - Batista predicting Bray Wyatt to be the next big star for WWE

Mike Rotunda
Back when he was with the NWA, Mike Rotunda had an amateur wrestler gimmick when he teamed with Rick Steiner. It was actually based on his real life athletic career in college. Rotunda really did wrestle at Syracuse University. He was never an All American, though.

Carlito
Since the company is expected to have Carlito, Diego and Fernando all inducting Carlos Colon into the hall of fame at Wrestlemania 30, there are talks that WWE could try to convince the former United States Heavyweight Champion to make his return as an in ring performer. The Los Matadores gimmick has not exactly drawn in the fans, so the trio could be paired together.

Jeff Hardy
When the Willow gimmick showed up in TNA, a lot of fans wondered what exactly was going on with Jeff Hardy. Well, it turns out that the gimmick change was basically his desire to try something new with his character. He wanted to bring a little more excitement for himself after having been in the wrestling business since he was a teenager.

Even though the name is associated with his failed stint in WWE, Sin Cara continues to use the name down in Mexico and Puerto Rico. The masked performer has also not been able to come up with a new name and gimmick for himself.

Diego
Many within WWE have already chalked up the El Torito gimmick as a bust. Management were hoping that he could help elevate Diego and Fernando, but the audience has simply not connected with the trio. Ryback
Last year, some buzz was created when Ryback deleted all of his Tweets on Twitter. Many felt that the backstage heat was the reason why he was forced to take them down. Edge

"We are thinking of making you guys the new 'Midnight Express. I just went, 'Oh, no. Anything new, whatever it is, it's not going to work.' That (idea) was doomed for failure right away. What are you going to say? That's brutal… a horrible idea, and I know Sean (Morley) felt the same way. We were like, this is not good, but we'll make it work and be a kick-ass tag team no matter what they call us; we'll do good with this."

Nikolai Volkoff

During the mid 1980s, Nikolai Volkoff made his return to WWE after stints in the AWA and Mid South. Upon his return, someone came up with the idea to have him sing the Russian national anthem to generate heel heat, as the United States was at odds with the country.

Abdullah the Butcher

For years, one of the most recognizable traits on a wrestler were the scars that were seen on the forehead of Abdullah the Butcher. Triple H

"That is another reason I'm pretty sure I won't be returning there any time soon. Hunter was pretty obviously jealous of certain individuals. I'm not saying he was jealous of me. I could tell he was envious of (Rob) Van Dam. He was extremely envious of Rob's success. He was jealous of Van Dam's personality. He was jealous that people gravitated towards Rob, because people liked being around Rob because he was very positive. The most glaring was the work rate. Hunter has had the same matches his whole career. If the guy is so damn tough, why does he need a sledgehammer. How do you justify this guying be a bad ass if he always has a weapon. Hunter is like that nerd that throws out a joke expecting the room to start laughing and ends up laughing at his own joke."

"Chris was dark, he was extremely dark. We used to have a joke that Chris was tri-polar, because it was a step up from bi-polarity. He would flip sometimes. I think a combination of Chris' background of with steroids, mixed with the partying, is a recipe for disaster. One of them is a recipe for disaster. Its literally taking Drano and pouring it on your hard drive. See what that does for your computer."
