During a podcast interview with Steve Austin, Jake Roberts revealed the origin of his Snake nickname. He claims that it was given to him by Paul Orndorff because Roberts kept sneaking behind his back and stealing his ring rats. Orndorff kept calling him a snake, so that nickname stuck. Roberts confessed that the snake gimmick made all of the difference in the world when it comes to his popularity and longevity in the business.

The Detroit Lions have a rookie running back named Ameer Abdullah, and he has been beyond impressive in training camp. His brutal running style has caused people to start calling him by the well known nickname.

After finding out about his death on Friday, Rousey has decided to dedicate the fight to Roddy Piper, the man who bestowed his nickname to her. Rousey is a well known fan of professional wrestling, and she has gotten to meet some of her childhood favorites through the years.

Nature Boy Buddy Landel

Earlier this year, the often forgotten Buddy Landel because the topic of interest in professional wrestling again because of his untimely death. Some members of the internet wrestling community questioned his nickname when they learned about it. Landel was actually bestowed the honor of being called the "Nature Boy" from none other than Ric Flair and Buddy Rogers, two legendary performers who also used the moniker.

Sting the Vigilante

If you're a WWE fan that is observant, you already noticed that Sting has been given a new on screen nickname by the commentators and wrestlers. Management has been insistent on their performers that they push the Vigilante nickname as much as possible. Management wants to be able to apply various trademarks and copyrights to the gimmick, so that they can make as much profit off of merchandising as they can while the legend is around.
