Jim Ross Blog

Jim Ross
Jim Ross has posted his latest blog at his JRsBarBQ.com website and here are some highlights...

  • About the Shawn Michaels-Undertaker video from RAW he said: Music has become such a large part of the wrestling scene and that fact was never more evident than the choice of music used in the HBK-Undertaker video package Monday night. I Tweeted (JRsBBQ) about this seconds after I saw it and I will willingly go into a hyperbole-free zone to say it was one of the best vignettes that I can ever remember seeing on a wrestling, TV show. Ever.
  • About the Ric Flair domestic situation he said: Sorry to hear of the firestorm that my pal Ric Flair found himself in Sunday night. "Naitch" and I have been friends for over a quarter of a century and I choose to remain steadfastly behind him. We don't know all the details of this unfortunate matter nor do we need to know all the details. What we all should do is to hope that this matter is resolved to everyone's happiness and all involved parties can proceed with their lives.
  • About Wendi Richter's Hall of Fame induction he said: Congrats to Wendi Richter for her HOF announcement. If my memory serves me correctly, as a young lady Wendi lived in Louisiana and was a big time Mid South Wrestling fan. As the story goes, or so I've been told, she approached Mid South's Grizzly Smith about breaking into the biz as a teen and he encouraged her to finish her formal education before Wendi finally went to train with Lillian (The Fabulous Moolah) Ellison in South Carolina. Nonetheless I'm happy for Wendi and was pleasantly surprised when her named was called.

And finally, it was announced on RAW that Batista will defend the WWE Championship at Wrestlemania 26 against John Cena. Cena won the rights in a match with Batista, where Batista purposely got himself disqualified to put Cena into the match with him at Wrestlemania.

WWE Spokesperson Speaks on the Incident With The Undertaker’s Pyrotechnics

WWE spokesman Robert Zimmerman told the River Front Times that there was a "mistiming with the pyrotechnics" that led to Undertaker being temporarily engulfed in flames at Sunday's Elimination Chamber PPV. Zimmerman also claimed that Taker was only allowed to perform after being cleared by a ringside physician.

"Thank God he was fine," Zimmerman said. "It basically amounted to a sunburn. It wasn't over a large area of his body, just a short area, just a little bit on his chest." Zimmerman added that he wasn't sure whether the incident will cause the company to review or change their pyrotechnics. You can read the full story at RiverFrontTimes.com.

Live Fan Reports on The Undertaker’s Pyro Incident

Here are some notes from fans in attendance at the WWE Elimination Chamber PPV:

Matt Frazier reports: "I was at the event and during Undertaker's elaborate into, a pyro cannon misfired catching his hat and coat on fire. He quickly threw off his gear and ran down the ramp. Once inside the Chamber, he was given water to help cool his hands. After the event, he was very animated, gesturing at the pyrotechnics booth as he walked to the back. I'm sure someone got an earful."

Neal Kendall reports: "Just got back from the PPV. Sounds like they didn't show Taker catching on fire on TV. During his ring entrance, he walked slowly over one of the areas where the flames come up and one shot up right through him. Pretty scary moment! After he flipped around putting the fire out, he sprinted towards the ring. He then spent time in his pod pouring water over himself."

James Ashcroft: "Looked like Undertaker ‘did things differently’ during his entrance, as he was pretty much engulfed in a fireball and probably wanted to get away as quick as possible. That's how it looked on my PPV feed, especially when I rewound and looked again: he's definitely stood in the middle of the stage as the middle flamethrower is active. I was quite amazed when I saw it, however noticed that no live report seemed to see it. He’s lucky to have escaped."

Robert Dalton reports: "He tore of his hat and jacket then doused himself with water when he got in the ring. During the match you could plainly see a giant red burn mark on his chest."
