Update on the Beautiful People as TNA Knockout Tag Team Champions

As seen last night on TNA iMPACT!, Madison Rayne and Velvet Sky defeated the teams of Angelina Love and Tara and Sarita and Taylor Wilde in a three-way match to win the vacant TNA Knockout Tag Team Championship, after interference from Daffney. The TNA website is now recognizing all three members of the Beautiful People as Knockout Tag Team Champions. The three members of The Beautiful People will defend the titles under the "Freebird Rule," which allows any two of the three members of the team to defend the title on any given night.

TNA Now Planning on Having Less Knockout Matches on TV

Even though TNA's Knockouts division has been a proven ratings draw, the new idea in the company is to have less women's matches on TV with most of the women being featured in segments, especially with The Beautiful People. The feeling is that when they put The Beautiful People in the ring, it isn't very good at all.

Updated: Hulk Hogan & Eric Bischoff Radio Interview

Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff appeared on Howard 101 on Friday with Bubba The Love Sponge to give "The State of TNA" address.

  • Bischoff's response to Honky Tonk Man saying he's coming to TNA: "I'd rather drive a rusty icepick through my eye than work a day with him." Honky's worthless and can't draw flies." Bischoff said the story is complete BS.
  • Bischoff claims he doesn't know anything about TNA moving to Monday nights, nor the March 1st show.
  • Hogan said he's pushing for Impact on Mondays everyday but also denied it's happening soon. He said March 1st would indeed be a good starting point though.
  • Hogan would love to have Randy Savage in TNA to manage Black Machismo.
  • Bischoff: "Lacey is scary hot."
  • Bischoff and Hogan are high on Desmond Wolfe.
  • They put over Pope big time too (especially Bischoff).
  • Hogan: "Abyss is awesome and he's my next John Cena.
  • Hogan said TNA's big selling point for the Montreal Angle is that they have Earl Hebner and WWE doesn't
  • On naming talent they could bring from WWE, Hogan says he'd want Cena, Orton and Big Show cause he's never been used right. Bischoff disagrees: "I don't think he's ever been committed. I have a problem with Show. He's always been lazy."
  • Caller: If you HAD TO fight one guy in TNA who would it be? Hogan: Depends on how full of himself AJ Styles gets.
  • Hogan said that "inside sources" claim the original plan was for Bret Hart to face Shawn Michaels at Wrestlemania.

Lacey Von Erich Interview

Host Arda Ocal and Corey Erdman interviewed TNA Knockout Lacey Von Erich on SIRIUS Channel 98's "Right After Wrestling" program. Among the topics discussed:

- Lacey talks about a funny story about how a Spin Cycle episode with her and Kevin Nash had to be cancelled due to too much raunchy talk

- Her thoughts on TNA's rehash of the Montreal screwjob and locker room reaction, and doing what the writers tell her. "It's only my job"

- Growing up as a von Erich and swearing off wrestling after her father's death until she got a call to become a WWE Diva, and her young boy being the reason she left the juggernaut to join TNA

- Being valedictorian of her high school and owning her own advertising agency

- Context behind "I don't want to know that you're currently taking a dump and then what you're going to eat for lunch"

TNA Advertising Matches Not Taped at Impact Tapings?

As noted before, TNA is advertising two six-person matches on their website for this Thursday’s show. Neither of the matches were taped at last night’s tapings and unless the matches are taped tonight, they probably won’t make it onto this Thursday’s broadcast. The matches being advertised are The Beautiful People vs. Tara, Hamada & Awesome Kong and Generation Me & Amazing Red vs. The Motor City Machineguns & Brian Kendrick.

- Karen Angle was with Jeff Jarrett at the recent string of TNA live events. There is talk again of having her return to TNA programming with an on-screen role.

The Beautiful People Are Monday’s Impact’s Second Biggest Draw Behind Hulk Hogan

In a news bit that should surprise no one, a minute-by-minute breakdown of Monday's TNA iMPACT! rating reveals that the first Hulk Hogan segment contained the most-watched portion of the show.

After opening with a whopping 3.05 million viewers for Hulk Hogan's walk to the ring, Hogan's first live segment peaked with 3.36 million viewers at 9PM. This figure then gradually (and steadily) declined as people began tuning out, presumably to view the Bret Hart-Shawn Michaels encounter on WWE RAW.

What is interesting, however, is that the next biggest attraction was neither Jeff Hardy, Ric Flair nor any of the active male TNA performers. Rather, it was The Beautiful People's strip poker game. While TNA's Knockouts have often drawn well in comparison to the other action, it is surprising that they maintained their dominant level of appeal on such a star-studded show.

The first instance of the poker game drew between 3.00 and 3.01 million viewers; a segment that also featured Sean Morley drew 2.9 million viewers just after 9:30PM. Aside from a portion of Hulk Hogan's appearance, the Beautiful People were far and away the biggest draw of hour two.

TNA To Get Rid of Lacey Von Erich Soon?

Word going around TNA is that Lacey Von Erich will be fired soon. Apparently officials have given up on her and feel that she is not learning what's being taught to her.

Lacey is said to be on "thin ice" with TNA officials.
