WWE Planning on Working With Goldberg Again?

WWE showed a Wrestlemania recall on RAW this week of Bill Goldberg pinning Brock Lesnar in 2004 as a way to plug Steve Austin’s guest host gig but the company has actually been talking about Goldberg and trying to get some kind of relationship going with him.

They realize he won’t come back and wrestle but they’re thinking of some kind of Legends deal to use his likeness in video games and such. Goldberg could also be possible for next year’s Hall of Fame in Atlanta since they’re running low on “main eventers” to induct.

Breaking News: Brock Lesnar To Return This Summer

They just showed Brock Lesnar and Dana White sitting in the studio, looking like they've got some things to say.

Lesnar's telling his story. Initially diagnosed with mononucleosis. He's bashing Canadian health care.

He was stricken with a 104 degree fever in Canada. Then came back to the States where they found a hole in his stomach.

They gave him an option to heal on his own or get a colostomy bag. He went 11 days without food or water -- being fed intravenously.

Then he healed -- when doctors went back in, they couldn't find a hole in his stomach at all.

Lesnar claims "there is literally no sign of anything even existing in there." Meaning presumably that he's 100% healed.

Lesnar and White say that Lesnar’s illness should have ended his career, but it is a “miracle” he has returned to full health.

UFC 111: Carwin vs. Mir winner faces Lesnar this summer if healthy. If not, Nogueira vs Cain winner will face Lesnar.

Conflicting Reports About Lesnar’s Health & Return Timetable

From Heavy.com:

"One source informed Heavy that Lesnar will be out for the rest of 2010 and will vacate the heavyweight championship at the press conference. The same source also indicated that Lesnar has experienced a drastic weight loss during his bout with diverticulitis and is currently under 220 pounds. While nothing is confirmed, the timetable for Lesnar's return could ultimately depend on how long it takes him to get back to his normal weight of 290 pounds, and any setbacks with his illness could postpone it even further."

"But another source told Heavy.com on Tuesday that Lesnar's weight issues are overblown and that the champion could make his return this summer."

Brock Lesnar’s Trainer Says He’ll Return to the UFC

After fears that Brock Lesnar’s health was so bad that he’d never fight again, the UFC Heavyweight champ’s trainer Greg Nelson says that Brock is “definitely come back to fight” again for UFC. Nelson told ESPN that Lesnar is “slowly getting his body ready and being smart with his recovery” after suffering an intestines infection that UFC president Dana White originally feared could end Lesnar’s fight career. Nelson added that he believes Lesnar will be “back faster than people expect.” An interim heavyweight title fight is scheduled for March between Frank Mir and Shane Carwin.

Interim UFC Heavyweight Title Fight Announced for UFC 111

The UFC announced earlier this week that former UFC heavyweight champion Frank Mir will be looking to become only the second man in UFC history to win the championship three times when he takes on number one contender Shane Carwin for the interim UFC heavyweight title at UFC 111: St-Pierre vs. Hardy on March 27, 2010.
"I can’t say enough about a fight that has undefeated powerhouse wrestler Shane Carwin taking on former UFC Heavyweight Champion Frank Mir for the interim belt," said UFC President Dana White. "This fight pits Carwin’s one punch KO power versus Mir’s fight-ending submission game. Both of these matches are ‘can’t miss’ fights in terms of action."

Winner of four of his last five fights, former two-time heavyweight champion Frank Mir has put on the necessary muscle and weight to face the biggest challengers in the heavyweight division, and he is refocused on earning back the world title. A Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt with immensely improved striking, the 30-year-old knocked down feared striker Cheick Kongo at UFC 107 and then proceeded to submit the French contender with a guillotine choke, putting him firmly back in the title picture.

"Shane Carwin is an extremely dangerous opponent and being matched up against him is an honor," Mir said. "It’ll be a great challenge to face him and get to match wits against his coaches. Greg Jackson is like the ‘Yoda’ of mixed martial arts and I will need a strong gameplan heading into this fight."

Originally scheduled to face UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar, No. 1 contender Shane Carwin has been on a tear ever since he stepped foot into the Octagon. A former national wrestling champion with dynamite in his fists, Carwin has made quick work of all three of his UFC opponents, finishing Christian Wellisch, Neil Wain and Gabriel Gonzaga within 91 seconds each. Now he takes the next step in his career against Frank Mir.

"It’s an honor to not only fight for the interim UFC heavyweight title, but to do so against a respected former champion like Frank Mir," said Carwin. "This is going to be a fight to remember for the fans, and I plan on making it one of my most memorable performances as well. Beating Frank is going to be a test, but I’m confident that it’s a test I will pass with flying colors."

The highly anticipated bout will be one of two title fights at UFC 111: St-Pierre vs. Hardy. The card also features UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre defending his title against Dan Hardy.

Dana White Staying Quiet on Lesnar’s Status

Despite UFC President Dana White stating last week that UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar would meet with his physician this week to determine his condition, White has decided to not reveal any details on his status.
"Brock asked me not to talk about it," White told Fanhouse.com. "I have to respect that."

White went on to offer "no comment" when asked if he could make any statement about Lesnar. He had stated last week that they should know the status of Brock Lesnar this week.

Frank Mir Talks About Brock Lesnar Giving Up His Title Belt

Frank Mir just can't let go of Brock Lesnar as he talks to Cagewriter:

"If (Brock Lesnar) is going to be out for that long, should he even hold on to the belt at all? The interim title works if a champion is not able to defend his belt within a year-long period, you know he's going to be out eight, nine months, you make the interim belt than he comes back after a year but as of now his last fight was in July. If he's out a year from today's date that's a year and a half and at that point, I don't think you can hold the belt ransom. They gave me about a year when I had my injury so I've been on that side of the coin and I was more than happy to relinquish the belt because I felt kind of selfish that I really couldn't do anything with it. I don't how successful he's going to be coming back. That's going to be a question over his head for a while. It wasn't like he was a slick, technical fighter to begin with. A lot of his style went upon his brute power and strength. If Brock Lesnar is unable to put on the same kind of size as he had before ... I don't think he's going to be very successful as a fighter at 245."

Jim Ross Blog on Brock Lesnar

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross has updated his blog over at JRsBarBQ.com with an update on the health condition of UFC Heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar. Ross wrote:

"UFC Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar looks like, because of his on going issues allegedly with diverticulitis, that he will be stripped of his title soon. If Brock is lucky enough to dodge the surgeon's knife on this matter it will be miraculous. Having had diverticulitis, diverticulosis, a perforated intestine and a tumor removed from my colon I can identify with some of what Brock is currently going through. (Thank God I had the skilled Dr. Heiney to help pull me through.)"

"He will have to change his diet to a significant degree for the rest of his life but I still see Brock most likely returning to the Octagon. Perhaps not in 2010 and, if so, it would be late in 2010. If Frank Mir wins the interim title, expect Lesnar to be even more motivated to return and physically destroy Mir as Brock did in their last encounter. To Mir's credit, he has talked and fought his way back into relevancy and into the title picture. Lesnar is seeing skilled, astrologist's and his physical snapshot will be evolving over the next few months."

"Obviously, UFC honchos feel Lesnar will be out an extended period of time or they wouldn't attempt to crown an interim, paper champion in Brock's absence."
